Unfinished Business

Unfinished Business

Hey,

I could really use some advice here.

I'm currently doing a program at university, and while I am really enjoying it and doing exceptionally well, I never completed Year 12. I'd really like to go back to the adult community college, where I attempted Year 12 last. I have a clear goal of what I want to do now, where as before, I did not. I live in South Australia. It's unfinished business. The reason why I left is because I had been experiencing incredibly poor mental health, and I felt far too ashamed to open up to anyone at the college about it. But, being a university student, along with seeking tons of psychiatry over the years, has made me engage in a lot of self-reflection. It's funny, because I spoke with an Aboriginal elder at the university (I'm Aboriginal myself), and despite this woman being a well-established, educated woman, she too told me that she wanted to go back to school and do Year 12 as well! Look, I know Year 12 isn't so important anymore, but I don't know.... something is driving me to go back there. I want to get into the Law/Psychology/Aboriginal Affairs sector.

Thanks!

Re: Unfinished Business

My information is very old. But it used to be that the government would only fund studying '

"Up"

So if you've done TAFE or uni, they won't fund VCE. If you've done uni they won't fund TAFE

That's how it used to be. They'd only fund a higher level than you've previously done

Re: Unfinished Business

I wasn't aware of a student finishing Uni certification before completing year 12...

Better to get an appointment with your University's Career Counsellor, whom you can talk openly with, and who will have all the information on what is advisable, going back to 12 if necessary or going ahead with appropriate job/internship!
