Day 10 alcohol free and my partner left me!

Day 10 alcohol free and my partner left me!

My thought instead of drinking I should take up weed. I refused. He then ended the relationship and left.

Hi @MG2879 well done on Day 10 without alcohol! That is great 🥰.

I'm sorry to hear your partner has left. How are you feeling about that?

Don't want to be with someone that's doesn't support me creating a healthier lifestyle.

@MG2879 that is quite reasonable and understandable. From reading back some of your other posts it sounds like you are making a lot of positive decisions to improve your health and wellbeing. 🥰

I'm sorry that your partner isnt prepared to alter their lifestyle or addictions in order to support you with it.

Obviously not to the same importance as in your case, but my partner was not willing to change their eating habits (ordering takeaway and buying sweet treats) in order to help support me in losing weight (given I am very far into the obese category). ☹️ its very disheartening that they are not willing to. But for me it has been easier to eat healthy since he moved out (due to other issues, not due to the food issue in my case).

I hope you know that it is not a reflection of your worth. You are making positive life choices and fighting the good fight for your life.

@MG2879 I hope you are doing ok in the 'void period' of the breakup.

It seems like you are chasing a better life and quitting substanceS is the pathway to a "life that is in control of itself" rather than "a life controlled by taking something that costs time and money".

I have lost partners over their issues with substances and I have lost a lot of time trying to connect with people who NEED a filter over their thoughts and emotions. But getting to the other side of FREEDOM of thought and action is a worthy result and I hope that you stick to your guns and your goals in this time and see yourself through to a very respectable result. Yes it can be lonely at the top but we get one life, we get many chances and people come with us on the journey or they hop off it and throw dung while watching us kick goals.

Stay strong and believe in the bigger picture.

thankyou @Sugarshack I know myself worth and I'm not going to allow anyone to get in the way of a healthier clearer life. I'm already starting to see life a little clearer.

@MG2879 the vision can be astonishing when it's not clouded by intoxication and keep on keeping on, I have struggled with addiction myself and the one thing I could take away from 25 years struggle is "that intoxication puts a comfortable filter onto an uncomfrtable situation, but the discomfort of sobriety allows us to make decisions that affect the comfort of reality..." thats what I keep telling myself in the struggle of fake comfort vs real pressure and the constant temptation for escapism.

Hey @MG2879,

Seems like tonight has been so hard to manage and you are dealing with some tough feelings of the breakup. Please know that you don't need to face the mental health struggles alone.

It is great to see you getting the support from the community today. Is there something the community can do to cheer you up?

Hope that the difficult feelings would pass soon and you can have a good rest tonight.
