Talking about pets.

Talking about pets.

Hi everyone. Harry here.

I am seeing a common thread in this part of the forum and that is we all LOVE our animal friends. SO I thought it might be fun to share a little bit about our non human friends with each other. What type of animal/s we have their names, breeds any quirks they may have and what makes them so special.

Currently I have an African Love Bird (the type with the white cartoon eyes) and his name is Jasper. Jasper is three years old and is every color you can imagine. He loves to have a bath each morning and isn't shy LOL.

His eating habits are odd as he only eats seed and occasionally lettuce, but loves his cuttlebone though.

He is a constant in my life and we have some pretty kool conversations. Jasper's shrill squawk can pierce eardrums and his beak could pierce steel I'm sure (fingers and finger nails I can attest to).

He is a great source of conversation amongst the mum's, dad's and children who pass by (even the local kitty cat drops in).

His expected lifespan is around 12 years so I look forward to many more adventures with Jasper.

Harry

Hey Kenny66

If you look at the taskbar just above where you type you see the smily face, two squares to the right you will see a tiny picture of a tree. If you click on this you will then be able to upload any pic you wish.

Re: Pets and favourite animal movies

Hey Alessandra1992

Seeing that I am a bit of a Dory at times Nemo certainly rates. Red Dog is such a moving movie. I had forgotten all about Warhorse until you mentioned it, that was a particularily fin movie.

The Lion King MUST rate right up there and I really loved How to Train Your Dragon. Oh i just remembered the dancing penguin scene in Mary Poppins hehehehehe.

I could watch nature docos constantly.

Ooh I love how to train your dragon! And I forgot about Lion King...
National Velvet with Elisabeth Taylor blew me away when I was a young gal...
And I have really enjoyed Curious George, pokoyo and one show which I can't decided if they're pets or people, the Boohbahs on ABC3 a few years ago...

Hi Harry

Great idea you had here, glad I found your post when I finally got to get back on here. Like you I have a bird [2], cockatiels called Darcy & Benny, they're about 5 & 4-5. Benny was the newer addition & ended up swanning around like the mortgage holder & being aggressive to poor Darcy so now they have separate 'houses' LOL. I tried a cat but my allergies didn't love it as much as I did so I'm trying to be grateful [& am grateful] for the little guys [actually when getting their nails cut the vet asked if I wanted to dna test their sad little excess droplets of blo#d & when I received the results discovered they're both actually girls but calling them boys has kind of stuck!]. When my depression was particularly sinking/bad over past few months I would feel motivated to get up for them to care for them & keep them company & they have been my motivator so I can totally understand what everyone is saying about pets, absolute lifesavers. LAM particularly would understand that. Regarding rescues I wish my allergies & budget would allow me to just go & round up every single animal in the shelters! My fantasy is to have a massive tract of land & pay quality people CEO type salaries to look after all the abandoned animals, like disneyland for pets. I'm kind of glad mine are noisy but nowhere as noisy as Jasper probably is though 🙂
