Don't know what happened, but I didn't sleep last night! I stayed up completing some projects and didn't end up sleeping! How chaotic! @FearofUnknown
I'll wait to hear how you go tonight.

@tyme Talking about losing sleep seems to cause Sleep Deprivation faster than not talking about it. Did you manage to catch-up on any sleep?
@Rhymster The fan works as a great distraction. Maybe you can give it a try.
Can't say sleeping in a colder room is doing anything good to train the Circadian Rhythm to sleep but it definitely is helping me to get a few decent hours of sleep. I just don't know how long I can keep it up for. Still wakes up at the crack of dawn and never fall back asleep.

Hey @FearofUnknown ,
I'll be honest, I actually don't sleep without medication. And even with meds, I struggle to sleep sometimes.
One thing I learnt over the years is that when I stress about sleep, I sleep even less. But if I tell myself that if I don't sleep tonight, I'll make it up another night, then I tend to be calmer and more able to sleep.
I wonder if this is something you can relate to?
Also, yesterday, I ended up having a 20-30 min nana nap. Then I popped up and logged onto the forums after because I didn't want to stay sleeping so I'd keep my routine going. Last night, I stayed up only a short time to work on some projects, but I hope to catch up on sleep tonight 🙂
Hope you get some sleep!

Visited my GP yesterday and have been prescribed some sleep medication which I am to take sparingly (no more than twice a week). Gave it a try last night because I knew I was going to be awake for 13 hours and finally could fall asleep, especially after the toilet trip. Woke up at my usual time without any fuss.
Hopefully this will last a few days because I can't imagine not getting any sleep tonight after a night of good rest. Really need to resist the urge not to drink them every night. Can't build dependency. I only have 1 box.
UPDATE: Did not have any positive effects the night after.
Was up for 13 hours and still resisted the urge to take the sleep medicine consecutively. Can't fall asleep without them and I've only had 4 pills in total. Need to catch up on sleep but can't with them.
Tonight's plan: if I'm still hypervigilant and therefore awake, I may take a pill. Otherwise, will sleep without it even if the sleep quality is bad.

sounds like you're self-aware and working hard on resisting that urge. i have faith in you, you can do this!! @FearofUnknown
i also hope you are gentle with yourself. creating a sleep routine where you're getting good quality sleep can take some time, so do remember that it's normal to have ups and downs. i've got my fingers crossed it goes well for you 💙

Have you become dependent on the sleep medicine or do you see it as just a part of your medication routine @tyme ?
How do you feel about the risks of taking sleep medicine long-term? Does it bother you? Or is there no choice? @Rhymster
