@Chasingsunsets alas I do not! At least, nothing edible haha. The raspberry bush was already there when I moved in, and it has apparently thrived on neglect, because I haven't really done anything to look after it 😅

I love succulents @Shaz51 @Jynx . They are so easy to care for. The only reason I have non-easy care stuff is my helper does some of the care. If it was entirely up to me I’d only have succulents and cacti and a few other plants that can be easily watered. He reckons he’s going to fix the automatic watering system but never gets around to it, so I have to lug the watering can around to save on water cost.

I have a neighbour who insists on watering too much and because I’m on strata title and have a bigger piece of land I have to pay a bigger share of the bill than her.

I made it clear to her that I was not happy with a particularly high bill. She doesn’t water as much now, but I still hear her watering some days when it has rained while she was still asleep. I wish she’d check if the soil is wet before watering.

The hardest things to water properly in Summer are the tomatoes and the new natives. Atm we are getting regular Spring rain so it’s easy, but when the Summer heat comes it is harder to be sure. The indoor plants are tricky all year round. I stick my finger in pots to judge.

@GezzaP I'm too forgetful to water things regularly, so succulents suit me well!

That's frustrating about your neighbour. Is there like a 'body corporate' or whatever you could also talk to?

The strata manager is one of the residents he is aware of my annoyance. @Jynx The residents make up the body corporate mostly we get along ok and I’m outnumbered so speaking up was all I could do. She gets money from her children to help her pay the bills. She is in her 80s and going deaf (I don’t wear my aids yet) and getting help around the house like me. It is better than it was for that one bill. The message got through so it’s better.

Glad you spoke up then @GezzaP - fun little fact about me is that when I was a kid, my local council has this educational initiative called the 'Water Ambassadors' - we would do stuff like spray paint messages on storm drains saying 'The drain is just for rain!' and like go test water quality in the local river and stuff. It was pretty cool actually, but yeah it has instilled in me this sense of righteousness when it comes to people wasting water!! So the little water ambassador in me is super proud of you 😋

Haven’t heard her watering yet today no need it rained overnight and this morning @Jynx .
