Feeling Invisable to wife

Feeling Invisable to wife

Hi All

Geez somedays my wife just wants absolutely nothing to do with me. Not even to help clean kitchen etc.

Not everyday - but certainly enough to make me feel useless.

It makes it hard to swallow when she knows I am trying therapy to be a better human. Also she forgot our anniversary last week.

I guess I have pushed her so far away that she has nothing to give. We are early 51 so I know perimenopause is affecting her. So I guess I just busy myself elsewhere and ride it out.

Gee it makes me feel absolute rubbish though.

Any advice welcomed.

Re: Feeling Invisable to wife

Hi @Heals07

It would be really hard to not be feeling seen by your wife.

I can see that you've acknowledged that you've also pushed her away in the past. I'm wondering if you have been able to have conversations about this? About you feeling as though you've pushed her away, and about how you feel invisible to her sometimes. It sounds like you're both going through some challenging changes and maybe trying to open some clear communication would make navigating it all a bit easier.

It's fantastic that you're putting in the work to be better for yourself, hopefully with time your wife will be able to feel those changes too and be able to give more again.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today

I really know and understand your plight.

I have been living with a stranger called my husband for 20 years.

Yes he says he loves me and that is the extent of the conversation.

I feel for you as it's a lonely and unknown place to be.

First time last week I suggested counciling.

Anyone would think I suggested a holiday on Leprosy Island.

After twenty years of marrige people change don't they?

Can you can bring back that person you fell in love with, I don't know.

But I keep battling on with subtle suggestions hopefully to improve things a little.

All the best,
