Recovering Sense of Self

Recovering Sense of Self

Yesterday I had a psychosis event triggered by severe stress and Nightmares. I didn't know who I was, I was scared of my partner I didn't recognise him for a bit, I was scared to talk for fear it was my voice, I didn't recognise my writing.

I feel so detached from everything, I've got referrals sorted but how do ground when you don't believe the things you say.

It's hard @Trickster . Being aware after the event is so important, to me anyway. As you re-emerge maybe grounding exercises? And trying to be with familiar people things and places? And falling back on routines?

I trust your partner is there for you. It's great you have your referrals etc sorted. Being able to continue with or adjust meds has also helped me.

Take care.

Re: Recovering Sense of Self

Something that helped me was small sensory things

a cold eye mask on my face (or cucumber slices on my eyes!)

splashing some cold water on my face

the sound of a bird singing outside

chewing gum

Giving myself a hug

I learnt from a young age that yoga and breathing exercises is something I have to do regularly
