I am feeling hollow like I could just drift away

Re: Life

I know I'm late on this one. But I understand that feeling. I feel like I'm doing everything in my power, but I can't shift it. I've been going to the gym for a while and eating better. I have decent friends. I'm on multiple medications. Sometimes I just feel like days go by and time goes by but nothing ever changes

Totally @C13 . I can absolutely relate to this! I remember sitting in bed, and doomscrolling to see how much other's have 'progressed' in life, only to look and shake my head at myself. Can you relate?

Yea I get it. I see people around me having kids, careers and being happy. Not even just on social media but around me too. All I can tell them when they ask what's new with me is "same old". And they know how it's been. And I graduated high school 11 years ago, and struggle to be happy every day

I can totally agree with you @C13 . I feel like you are re-telling my story. Moving from high school to adult hood was a huge shift. I was lost.

TW: Suicide, Self harm

Content/trigger warning

For 15 years after graduating, I was in a deep hole. So many attempts. So my hurt and self harm. A lot of what I'm ashamed of doing, but I would not turn back the clock any day. I feel that my experiences have given me a much deeper understanding of life. A deeper unstanding of other people. It's taught me to be compassionate towards others.

After many years of therapy and medication, I was finally supported to find the right meds and dosage of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds. From there, I was able to get out of the house to attend therapy a few times each week. Then it was from there that there came a point I had to come to end of myself and say that enough was enough. I needed to do something better or I wasn't going to make my next birthday.

So yeah. It was a hard call. I was in dire straits. And like you, I saw people around me continually move on, have kids, travel and seemingly enjoy life.

Then as I moved to into recovery/remission, I also watched as those people who were once-happy, eventually break up with their partners, suffer immensely and some even ended their life.

So it's sorta weird. I seems like I've been watching their lives in fast forward. They were first to enter into the 'happy life' stage, but also first to leave it.

Don't be in a hurry. Take your time and allow yourself to find your feet.

It's worth it.
