Today is World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

September is World Suicide Prevention Month
10th September is World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

Theme: Changing the Narrative on Suicide
‘It’s a call to shift from silence and stigma to openness, empathy and action, to ensure those who are struggling feel heard, supported, and connected. Together, we can help create a future where more lives are saved and more stories are shared.’ – Suicide Prevention Australia

This month can be deeply personal for many of us. If you carry lived or living experience, we honour your strength, your pain, and your resilience. You are not alone.

Let’s change the story together—by breaking down shame, creating safe spaces to yarn, and walking alongside one another with compassion and care.

Re: Today is World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

hey @Jlol i think i remember you mentioning that you worked fulltime and stay back longer at times too? correct me if i'm confusing you with another forums member.

but i can absolutely see how draining work can be and then having to make time to exercise/socialise/have some 'down time' while also getting enough sleep - it's tough! it also reminded me of the window of tolerance concept, do you know about it?

i think online social groups might be a lil easier (compared to f2f) since you can stay home and essentially join from your couch or bed. small steps might help ease in (i.e. maybe joining a group for 10 mins the first few times, then slowly building it up once you feel comfy). what sort of social groups would you be interested in joining? are there certain hobbies/interests that you'd like to find groups for?

I haven’t used it but some people where I work  have connected through the letterbox project and there is also a lot of groups they run

I’m not sure about what exactly but I do work amogost some potentially isolated people and they have shared the letter box project with me

Re: Today is World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

They just get the women together for 3 hours once every 3 months and have a speak on women empowerment. It’s a male dominated industry and we have to put up with a lot of sexist crap. So it’s about how we are strong and how we can deal with it. It also gets us together to know each other and have supports. HR organises it and there is people from the pit, the offices, underground and the wash plant. So it’s really good @ArraDreaming

Re: Today is World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

Very good @Captain24 I’m glad you get to do that
It’s not the same thing I know but I work in a mainly female dominated workplace / industry
So polar opposite I suppose.
I am one of very few male staff and those that are are in my kinda role being the gardening team or facilities and stuff like that
