Re: I need help
Hi @Rhymster and welcome to the forums.
This can be a pretty tough thing to voice, so I'm glad that you've felt comfortable to share this here.
Is this the first time that you've had thoughts of ending your life? Has something happened recently that has brought these thoughts on?
And last question for the minute: Are you safe at the moment?

Re: I need help
ahh i see! sounds like visiting a counsellor or psychologist might be a better fit? they usually have 50 min sessions and i find that ongoing therapy with a practitioner is better so you don't have to explain your situation from the start again @Rhymster would you be open to finding a therapist/counsellor/psych?
i'll leave this link of resource here too for you to check out: Mental wellbeing resources | Service NSW - there's a mix of services in there. i also forgot to link in 13 YARN 13 92 76, if you identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.

Re: I need help
I have a therapist I see once a fortnight, I have seen three psychologists and each after a couple of sessions said I am not equipped to help you bye

Thank you for opening up and sharing. I sounds so difficult.
I wonder if its helpful to consider another service to seek support from?
You may be interested in SANE's Guided Recovery. This is a 16 wk program. https://www.sane.org/referral
However, it does not replace clinical support.
Also, what can help from the forums community look like for you at this time?

Re: I need help
@Rhymster i'm so sorry to hear that they've said that to you. i can see how exhausting and disheartening it can be to get that response. certain psychs may be more trained and equipped than others in different topics, but i do get that it's frustrating being on the end that gets told 'find someone else'. please know that their response is not a reflection of you, but rather a reflection of their capabilities.
i'm curious to know, is there a particular reason why these psych's felt 'unequipped'? was it because of the conversation around SI or something else?
i hope the therapist has been helpful! i'm also wondering, what type of support are you looking for from the forums community? (i.e. strategies, resources, help with safety planning, to feel heard, etc)

Hi @Rhymster ,
I'm sorry you're experiencing those thoughts - they can be really hard and painful, especially if you're sitting with them alone. I'm glad you posted to reach out.
I have my fair share of suicidal thoughts; sometimes connected to events and sometimes without apparent trigger.
The upside of my experience having suicidal thoughts? It doesn't freak me out when I know others are experiencing them.
If you want to chat through what's going on for you and your thoughts, feel welcome to tag me. Of course I may not be online at the time, but I can always answer when I am next able to. 🙂 And the good thing about the forum, even though it's non-clinical and not realtime? There's no time limit 😉. You can post for as long as you like, and make as many posts as you like. 🤗 And if I forget something, I can read back on what's been said before to refresh myself without you having to re-explain it.
Just an offer if it would help to have a listening ear, or a 'devils advocate' for your thinking, or whatever. 😊
