Emotionally Numb

Emotionally Numb

Hi All,

First post here so thanks for listening. Not sure if I can search up for this topic so just thought I would reach out. I’ve reached a point in my life where I have finally admitted to myself I have a problem. I have been masking it with alcohol for years but have finally decided to try and give it up and see a gp. From the research I have been doing online I believe the term is “emotionally numb”. Does anyone have any personal experience with this and have any tips on dealing with it (helpful remedies) or know how I should explain it to my doctor?

hey@Buddha, not sure what rules are about specific locations but blue mountains is pretty broad and uh yeah i use them as part of my mindfulness practice when i need grounding i will stare at them and love the way despite them never looking the same twice they never move and provide me with a constant presence of familiarity which i have gratitude for each day.

shift work is a different beast, i have worked rotaing 12hr rosters for a few years for the money. big money and although fast paced easy working with mind not body for a change even though i never balanced due to the rotation and as i had a routine of finish work have drinks go to sleep it was so embedded that i would get home 6.30am and follow the routine as though it was pm which caused complications around getting kids too school and sports events so yeah man i hear you.

i wouldnt feel like you done anything wrong persay and its clear you werent being malicious or offensive in anything you posted,

we are all here for many varied reasons and i think the content warning was more to protect those of us that may have struggles relating to detail of some topics by causing pause before being exposed to a potential stressor, is that in the ball park @rav3n?

the moderators are there to keep us all safe and i hate to imagine the damage one could innocently cause to another without them. id say they know very well and it is selfless of them to be exposed to that so we arent....

yep exactly that @REDLINEZ750, certain topics and/or details might be triggering for certain members so we just add in the spoiler tag to be safe (this way members can choose where they want to read the 'potential triggering section' or not).

please don't be discouraged by these edits - no one's in any trouble, us moderators are here to help so that posts meet out guidelines. newer members may need their posts edited a bit more at the start, so we completely understand it can take some time getting used to 😊
