What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

@AlwaysMyself Not sure what cycled my mood. i woke up feeling rather downish but it has only grown worse as the day progressed.

Unfortunately it happens. (Unless i pick up these roosters will keep breathing a few days longer.🤔)

Until we are fed up waking up early

@DownMoreThanUp hang in there my friend, I'm praying for you. I have bipolar 2 and have the depressive episodes more than the manic (especially now I'm medicated) and the last couple of years particularly have been awful.

Take your time.

@DownMoreThanUp Turmeric is a really great herb, but if you have gall bladder problems don't take it. Learnt that lesson the hard way!

@ENKELI Yes i have been taken Curcumin (that is the active ingredient of Turmeric,) for about 2 years, it has been greatest to help settle the nausea, but then i began getting heaps of kidney stones from it so i stopped using it. i take TMG instead that has worked wonders as well.

Many good herbs around. Our Creator did not leave us without aids.😊

@DownMoreThanUp said "Our Creator did not leave us without aids." So very true. Wow thanks for letting me know about kidney stones being affected by turmeric too.

So I just googled TMG - is that trimethylglycine? Where do you get it from? I am on a high dose of vitamin d after my vet (GP) said I was very low in it and am thinking I should look at other vitamins and minerals for health, especially liver health. My liver isn't the healthiest so something that doesn't interact with meds would be great to increase function.

Hope you're feeling a little better now. Are you in Perth/WA as well? Something that you said recently made me think you were a fellow Perthite, especially with those beach shots.

Sorry to the rest of the country, but we really do have the best beaches in Aus 😋😁

@ENKELI No i'm not in Perth but down south, nearby Albany. Yes TMG is really good for the liver as well as the gut, and also our immune system. However it can interact with Psych medications for it produces serotonin. i get it from iherb but i'm sure you can get it elsewhere. i dissolve my tablets in water for they are huge.

i also use niacin, the flushing one is best, along with vitamin B6 and 12. i love taking niacin it gives me a boost soon after i take it.

Yes i also use vitamin D3. Not sure how much Vitamin D3 you are taking, but caution is advised for too much can cause depression instead of alleviate it, at least it does to me. You might want to check your dosages out.

i also love using nicotine patches when down and out, as nicotine taken that way is not addictive, but does provide me with excellent support. (got one on today) i always use a patch when i want to go out, but have only little energy or am feeling down. However after 7pm i take them off for otherwise i cannot sleep. However long term usage has the effects wear off, so i only use them when i feel drained or want to go out. (They do get a little itchy at times which is the only down turn of patches.)

Also regularly use magnesium (niacin does not seem to work as well without it,) and Zinc. Both can help suffering from insomnia as well as depression. They reckon magnesium is one of the minerals most people with mental health, or sleeping issues run short of.

Oh, as my wife can testify, Turmeric can have a devastating effect on your liver. Although the condition is very rare, it can be deadly. My wife, after successfully using turmeric to treat her bladder issues noticed that she became more tired, even falling asleep at work. So she went to see her GP. Her liver enzymes were 10 times higher than they ought to have been. No more turmeric for my wife!

i found it is always worth checking everything out before taking.😉

@DownMoreThanUp thanks for the info, especially about the vitamin D. I am taking the dosage recommended by my GP and since he's my primary doctor he knows what meds I'm on so I would hope he would know whether it interacted or not. I haven't noticed I've been more depressed with the current dosage so I think I'm ok.
I did read that about TMG possibly interacting with psych meds, it may be a matter of trial and error, like any supplements and other medications. Having depression/anxiety & BP2 is bad enough, but then the kicker of having drug interactions, it's like a delightful side effect of mental illness!

That's unreal about your wife. I didn't have liver problems but my gallstones certainly reminded me they were around. I almost ended up in the ED one night, it was only because ex friend prayed over me and I took some prescription pain relievers that prevented me from going. Ex friend did some research and found out about the interaction so that was the end of the turmeric.

Albany is a beautiful spot. I baptised my former Goddaughter down there one Easter Sunday. It was freezing cold but she insisted that's where she wanted to be baptised. I have family down there somewhere too.

I like to think I will retire down south. Escape the heat and humidity of the city, plus I really don't like Perth. I only stay for mum these days.

Enjoy your evening, I look forward to seeing your herb garden flourish - not so subtle hint to share progress pics!!

No , @PeppyPatti , but i LOVE travelling so i wish I flew more often! 😋

But i guess if I was sitting on plane more often my knees and back would not like me.

...maybe I need to work shifts in the airline when I travel 😆 so that im walking and stretched out more lol. Shame im too short for being an airhostess and my vision isnt good enough to be a pilot either.

We've had a virtual cruise on the forums before. Why can't we start a virtual flight? @AlwaysMyself
