Well a very good morning to you all on this cold, somewhat crispy winter's morn! T'was a bracing one degree when I awoke, myself and the cat looked at each other and said, "nope, don't have to get up, not gunna," and back to the land of nod we ventured!

My highlight for this fine day? Hmmm, well I baked myself some pork and apple sausage rolls yesterday and finished them off this morning. I shared some with my neighbour and packed a couple each for my workmates tomorrow. They are a tad tasty if I do say so myself...made from scratch with pork mince, red apple, a wee bit of bacon, garlic, worcestershire sauce, and panko breadcrumbs, baked golden brown with a nice sprinkling of fennel seeds (they beat the heck out of sesame, but I do like both - the fennel gives it an added flavour kick). Realised I didn't have any sage, but its optional anyway. Only thing I didn't do was make the puff pastry - store bought, easier. I came back from my neighbour to find my cat had helped herself to two as well...I suppose that is a compliment, little monkey;) Have a wonderful rest of your weekend peeps.

My excuse? Makes too many dishes, but really it's coz I'm lazy and can't be bothered cooking for one. LOL

@Taali I sometimes feel a bit like that, but I do love to cook and find it relaxing. Yes, the cat had a very happy look on her face when I got back from my neighbours - my bad for leaving them open in the container I suppose. Might do some next week with something else added, see how I feel at the time. My colleague at work often brings little treats in for me and the other fellow so I wanted to return the compliment. Hope they like them.

Been a crappy night for me.

Walking Mummies Talking.

Those mummies walk and do the talking,

sadly, narcissistic rulers still hold the floor,

I see real-life zombies walking alongside me,

hollow eyes fixed on the good life I store.

The long-dead drag my living days into their feed,

a harvest of hunger I did not plant nor need.

This is how the parasites take my life in their grip,

reacting to the demands of a slaver’s whip,

For bondage is the rhythm of the cold and the hollow,

where the heart’s desire is a path I refuse to follow.

They shout their laws to birth a chaos of their own,

leaving me to reap the seeds that they have sown.

Throughout the ages, the wicked dug my grave,

feasting on the ruin while they stayed safe,

Feeding on the energy I spent to keep them whole,

a systematic theft of the light within my soul.

They raised a monument of silence in my name,

and left me standing in the ashes of the flame.

Yet the truth will cast them down, and end the sway,

strip them of the hollow crowns they proudly display,

The rule of shadows over hurting hearts won't last,

I am the one to break the links and sever from the past.

The architecture of their deceit will finally crack,

and everything they stole, I am taking back.

Then free to savour all that I have built and grown,

I will reclaim the peace that I have always known,

No one again stealing the hours or the light,

no longer hiding from the spectres in the night.

The clarity of my own mind is my daily bread,

dining in the presence of the living, not the dead.

While those ghosts who schemed within my heart,

I cut the vein, and watch them all depart.

I no longer feed them with the blood of my own life,

choosing my own path, escaping all their strife.

For heeding death offers nothing but a cage,

so I turn the leaf and start a brand new page.
