@AlwaysMyself so true!! If only I had real and genuine friends that actually cared and accept me as the person I am but nope, sadly I got no one 😂 so only way to do it is to just deal with it all on my own which is sad haha 🤣😅

Small-group tours can be a good way to travel and not feel lonely and meet some people to have some fun with along the way. Different tour companies tend to attract different 'type' of people, so that can be a way to pick a company for the "feel". I recently learned about one called "patch adventures" which is women-only and does a lot of hands-on cultural activities (eg crafts) which appeals to me. I have done one at a really good price through Trip A Deal (qantas) which was quite good - and a real mix of people because it was both 4* accommodation but also a 2-for-1 deal, so it attracted both luxury travellers and people like me who are attracted to paying half-price and going with a friend/family lol (it was a larger group of about 30 people though, not small). Where as I would not choose Contiki for myself because they often have a big component on encouraging the "party life" at night which isn't my cup of tea -- but a friend of mine loved the one she went on with them.

But from a price perspective, I do like DIY travel rather than group tours. But I'm starting to appreciate more the simplicity of group travel, and definitely the value of the information that local guides can give about history, culture & wildlife (whether in a day tour or multi-day tour).

@PeppyPatti travel has been my motivation in life to 'continue'. It has kept me working for many years, so that i could save to travel. some people like to spend on cosmetics, or food/drinks, or ciggies, or technology, or clothing... for me it is travel. But i have always travelled on a very tight budget - shared hostel rooms, self-cooking, etc when the person I am travelling with is willing to also. I would like to do a part-time volunteer-work-for-board thing I reckon, financially could stay longer in an area to really get a feel for it.

My highlight today was meeting up with some peeps from my course to do some junk journaling. I ended up doing 2026 bingo with some of my values around the edge. I think it turned out well.
