What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

@tyme thanks for your message regarding the gallstones. I just have to be more mindful of what I eat and make sure I am drinking plenty of water. I should be getting the gallbladder removed within the next two months. So I am actually looking forward to that,

Hi @Kashmina yes I live in South Australia. I live out south close to the beautiful beaches. And since that is where I go to destress, it comes in very handy.

The weather has been weird for this time of year. I don't particularly like the heat. 26 degrees is about the perfect temperature for me.

How was your pasta? Did it taste ok with the gluten free pasta in it?

I have been spending most of the day catching up on posts that I have missed for the past few weeks. I am finally up to yesterday. Lol And I have been spending a lot of time on organising my coin collection, so I will be able to know exactly where to locate a particular coin if I need to, But I will have a rest once I am finished with the posts, and relax and read a book.

Are you up to anything much today?

My highlight today was a Melbourne cup lunch with my mental health organisation. I didn’t win anything. Don’t know what my horses were doing l. I had 2 in the sweep. We had a nice lunch and I had a pavlova nest for dessert. Now I am waiting at my psychologist’s for my appointment. I look forward to talking to her. She is great. Glad I found her and I was lucky enough not to have to wait to see her.

@Kashmina I will be having 3 different procedures done in the one operation, involving my oesophagus, stomach and obviously my gallbladder. I am on call to have the procedure done within the next two months. But i am going to see Crowed House [edited by moderator] and I just hope that they don't want to do it, just before that date, as I will need recover time. So fingers crossed, they won't do it until after the weekend it over.

@PeppyPatti I love eating left overs the next day. The flavour of the meal seems to have more time to soak in.

Leftovers are the best @Chasingsunsets . I won’t have any for tomorrow unfortunately. If my gardener/cleaner/handyman comes tomorrow we’ll go to local pub for lunch.

@GezzaP Thank you

When I left the hospital on Friday night, the nurse walked me out to the emergency department from the ward I was in, but I noticed she took me through a highly infectious ward. And all morning my nose was running and now I am starting to get a scratchy throat. And whenever I eat, it makes me feel sick. I really hope I haven't caught something from the hospital. That's the last thing I need at the moment.

Hi friendssss!!

so today was quite a good day for me cause I’ve done my volunteer shift at lifeline again this early afternoon, and, to be real with you all, being able to give back to the community by providing support to others that are either going through a crisis or they’d just like to have someone to talk to feels great and rewarding for me as it helps me manage my own issues too when I help others — some/minority of them that might be going through similar struggles as I am too. It also feels like I’m doing the role as a ‘job’ (almost) which is what I kinda like about it too.

I think being there for people and sit with them in the rain is one of my strengths & it feels great for me to be apart of a community like that. ❤️

I hope I can continue to do it on a weekly basis now that I’ve done 3 shifts in total post-placement.

@TAB the surgeon told me to replace my meals with Optifast, which I have done for the last two days. But my throat is getting scratchy, so I thought I would have some ice cream to help sooth it, but I started feeling sick, so put the bowl back in the freezer. Lol

I have really cut down on processed food, especially the ones with a high fat content, as that was causing the gallstone attacks. So now when we get take away, which is often, I get a salad bowl from the Vietnamese Shop.

That's funny you're eating an apple, and I just finished a banana. Look at both of us being healthy.

Changing your diet isn't as easy as it sounds. You need to change your lifestyle as well, as healthy mean more planning and preparation of food.

I wish you all the best in your new healthy eating lifestyle. And well done to making the commitment to follow your doctor's recommendations. My problems is my back is so bad, I cannot stand to cut food up or cook. And the kitchen table in the cabin is being used as my computer desk. So I can't even sit down to cut stuff up. So, if my partner doesn't feel like cooking after he was worked a full day, it's take away.
