Not coping with chronic illness flare up

Not coping with chronic illness flare up

Hi,

I'm currently in a severe flare up of my symptoms, mostly constant presyncope. I have POTS and ME/CFS. Usually even if I'm in a bad flare I can manage well mentally majority of the time. But this flare is super extreme anxiety/depression symptoms wise.

I feel like I am going to lose my mind, can't cope anymore and just feel very not like myself. When my symptoms are less bad these feelings start going away making me think the symptoms are triggering it to feel like that from my nervous system.

I can't take anxiety or depression meds for concern of making the flare up worse especially as I run a low blood pressure.

I'm just not sure what to do to cope through these very uncomfortable mental symptoms. I also cannot go see a psychologist because of the flare up even too hard for me to manage on telehealth.

Hey @Dizzydaisyy ,

I'm sorry to hear what you are experiencing. It sounds like a lot to manage.

I know you said telehealth is hard, but I wonder if you would be interested in a 6 month Recovery Club program where you tap into any groups want. You don't even need to have your camera on. At least there is some connection that way?

You can have a look here: https://www.sane.org/recovery-club

Then, when you feel you want 1:1 support, you have have a look at: https://www.sane.org/referral

These programs are all free of charge.

You deserve all the support you can get.

Hello. Thank you for sharing and sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this.

I’m curious about what you mentioned about medication and it impacting a flare up. Has this happened on the past?

@Dizzydaisyy i hear you. I have pots and me/cfs, amongst other things too. It sucks.

Being too tired to do basic life stuff is so hard. Do you have support workers or carers that help out when things get tough?

I haven't taken antidepressants or anything similar before. But a lot of meds I've tried for my illness mess with my blood pressure easily. Like drop it too low even at low doses.

I'm just med sensitive in general

Sorry to hear you have to deal with all the chronic illness stuff too.

Yes I luckily live with my parents and they help me with all the stuff I can't manage.

It's just dealing with the flare and feelings in my body is the hardest to get though atm
