@TAB my dad went to Portsea so he and mum dined in the Officers' Mess. Mum said the food was pretty good. We're talking the late 60's, early 70's as dad went to Vietnam. He was in signals and we used to laugh about getting a Christmas card from ASIO (mum still has one of the cards).

@TAB my bro did several exercises during his time with the Res. They were stuck with the rations - those things would survive a nuclear bomb!

.. I didnt mind 'ratpacks' just ate it cold out of packet ..biscuits,chocolate,tiny can of spam/catfood,tube of condensed milk,lollies ,poss even cooker .we used to gut them before going out bush ie throw out/leave behind what didnt need/wasnt going to use
