Re: Tabaluga's 2.0

I don't eat many things from the supermarket @TAB due to dietary and lifestyle considerations so I cook from scratch. I saw a beautiful recipe for home made bagels the other day using a tin of blitzed chickpeas for a base (!) and non gluten flour thrown in. I'm going to give it a go. Has anyone seen @Oaktree around the place? She was starting her weightloss journey doing Lite n Easy. Haven't seen her on here

@MissGremlin I know, I'm always looking for ways to budget, cut corners and save. A lady I knew off a facebook budgeting ideas page used to always be able to get heavily reduced items like meat up to its useby date - they would literally fall in her trolley. She would also go to chicken processing plants for damaged manufactured chicken then do canning to preserve the meat. She made a garden out of I think they are called ICB cubes which are large plastic cubes with a metal frame around them. She sawed them in half and made garden beds for produce. She would also slay her own chooks. It was pretty amazing what she came up with. I was near her age and was really surprised and what she could do!

@SmilingGecko oh wow that sounds incredible. I struggle with alot of anxiety around foods that are close to use by dates so I can't take advantage of when meats are on clearance. But I do keep a look out for specials on other products and stock up when I can rather than paying full price. Thing is that when things are on special now it's the price they used to be at full price so you're not really saving anything. The cost of living is ridiculous and so out of control.

Ah I see @MissGremlin. I'm a bit like that. Used to really marvel at this womans home economic skills though. She used to say she was of Scottish descent - "big pockets short arms!" I really need to learn how to do back to basics skills to be more self sufficient. I signed up for solar power several years ago as I knew electricity costs would go through the roof. I've saved a lot of money going solar. I took out a Plenti loan to pay for it and was able to pay back the loan. I try and use up everything I have and budget as much as possible. I've been lowering my overheads the past few months and buying my supps in bulk from a place that offers subscription and larger size packets of healthfood supps.

Re: Tabaluga's 2.0

Thanks @Bunniekins for the compliment. It means a lot. I'm glad you are enjoying taking care of yourself its always nice to see ❤️ We are going to have 100km winds in Melbourne today. Just pulling in a bucket garden chair so it does not fly off anywhere. I was hoping to get a walk in this afternoon but the winds will be here soon. Got a few more housekeeping chores then I'll happily sit down and relax. Hoping trees don't fall down on my property. It doesn't look good for Melbourne today

Re: Tabaluga's 2.0

Oh dear 36 degrees no good @Bunniekins. Keep cool if you can. I'm sorry you are struggling in this heat! It would be nice if the world stopped spinning and people were able to just hop off for a change. Getting out some crystals. Fluorite and Aquamarine for staying calm in chaos, Black tourmaline and Obsidian for protection and Amethyst for inner peace.

@SmilingGecko sounds like you are doing a great job of budgeting and minimising costs in many ways.
