Hello @StuF looks like you can possibly have a tax deduction on those boots which is good. If its shoes you wear everywhere including work it would not be a tax deduction. When I studied tax it was all about finding loopholes in tax manuals for big business, not for the little guy. I knew a lecturer who would get a kick out of studying CCH manuals for all the ways he could earn his clients tax avoidance which is legal unlike tax evasion which is illegal. They have lobbyists out there that shape taxation legislation nobody knows this. They create taxation legislation to serve the rich and big business. They are constantly bargaining with the tax office. Its a shame really that the ordinary Joe gets nothing back really, but thats how it is.

They employ these people to find all kinds of legal loopholes @StuF its how they avoid tax without breaking taxation laws.
