It's not a bother at all @Jacques . I'm sure we have all experienced anxiety at some point or another. The fact is that you know anxiety gets in the way, so that's the first step to doing something about it, right?

yes, you are right @tyme i have just missed out on so many opportunities in my 43 years, anxiety has controlled my life for so long. sometimes i feel like i am just treading water. sometimes i just feel hopeless.

what if this is the best i can hope for in life. just to keep treading water? just existing? i am safe. just putting the question out there.

I know how overwhelming this feeling is and I wish I could take it away too... though, it sounds like your mum and partner really love and care about you. 🥰

I am curious to know what you have explored for your anxiety and if anything has slightly helped in the past?

thank you for chatting with me @AuntGlow i really appreciate your time. yes, i am very fortunate to have such loving people around me.

i have tried most things, cbt, dbt, breathing excercises, meditation, grounding techniques, meds (my doctor gave me emergency meds to take if i have a severe panic attacks.) most of the time i just need to wait for it to pass. most times it does. but over time it triggers for a few moments.

i worry i waste professionals time when i see them as i have had this for my whole life i don't think it is something i can get on top of. i feel like im wasting their time.

i wish when i was 10 or so i had gotten help for this. maybe it might have made a difference.

I am sensing that some of these strategies will have helped over time, even if it's not always conscious. Because you have periods where you're not as anxious, right?

I know you have lived most of your life with these feelings and reactions, and I just want to say that I think you're an absolute superhuman for being able to manage them for so long. But that's the thing - you have managed them and this shows me that you're so capable. What is one thing you could do to soothe and nurture yourself in these moments? And have you researched neuroplasticity at all? 💖

thank you so much for the kind words @AuntGlow i have been living with anxiety for 35 years. it is truly exhausting, as im sure you know well.

yes if i can catch the panic attack in time i can prevent it. but if it catches me off guard like it did two nights ago i can't control it.

yes i know neuroplasticity well, i have the book by norman doidge - the brain that changes itself. it is a excellent read. i do hope with the knowledge of neuroplasticity can find new ways to treat anxiety and other mental health issues.

Amazing! So glad to hear you've been doing some reading on it. Our brains are capable of so much change if they are given a new experience enough times.
