New Music Thread (for all music, not just new)

New Music Thread (for all music, not just new)

Hi Peoples,

This thread has been done before...but unfortunately it has fallen foul of the forum bug/s.

So a few of us (like @Bunniekins @TAB ) thought it might be time for a reboot.

The idea is simple - post a clip of whatever music you would like to share with the forums community. Link the clip and tag the member/s you'd like to share it with...

Enough preamble. This clip is a bit different to what I will normally share - The Voice is not normally my thing - but I'm glad I stumbled across it today:

@DownMoreThanUp love your driving story!

I was with a partner who didn't want me to get my license. Finally we were in Southern Cross visiting friends, one of whom got caught drink driving and knew he'd need someone to drive his car back to Perth. My ex's mate suggested I get my license much to my partner's annoyance. The cop told me to come in on the next working day so I did my learners and driving test straight after. I then had to drive my ex's brand new Vitara back to Perth and only able to do 90 the whole way home as that was the speed limit for P platers back in the day. I had trucks tailgating me to add to my nervousness but finally made it home in one piece. It was certainly an experience!!

I've only lost a maximum of 3 points over a period of 3 years and not while I was on P plates. Had I been 18 when I got my license I think I would have been a lot more reckless!

@ENKELI Wow that is called being thrown in the deep end.

@StuF @Bunniekins @Glisten @TAB

My story getting my license is a laugh really. i did one week of driving lessons with my friends old VW after i got my learners and then went for my test. So the instructor took me into Town (Albany) and do a few things, to show i knew how to drive a car. He asked me why i wanted one and i told him i needed it for work. So then he said all good one more thing can you take me up this road and you can take me back to the station. THe road he wanted me to take is called the zigzag road by locals and is a dreadful undertaking under any circumstance let alone trying to get your driver's license.

Anhow i put my foot down for the road is very steep and took the first corner faultlessly. However to my horror the acceleration did not go down when it took my foot of the pedal. So the next corner just a few meters further i took with screaming tires. The instructor hang on for dear life third corner coming up with me trying hard to get the acceleration pedal to come back up stuck down on the floor. This had me flying out of the corner on to someone's yard taking out a rubbish bin before coming to stand still, pushing in my clutch pedal and skidding the brakes. Luckily the pedal was really stuck so we both had to pull it loose so the instructor from being upset with what happened commended me for handling the situation so well a learner.

And when i said at the back of the station i suppose next week again, belieiving i sure would not get my lincense, having him look at me and smile then pretend to be terrified, and said no way i get back in the car with you!

That was how i got my license. Me and my friend got drunk that night celebrating i drove home with my spinning head thinking how can people drive like that. For many did all the time at the time.

i do not know the real name of the street in Albany itself but it looks a bit like this but steeper.

@Bunniekins Bunnas it was the best audio I could find. Nothing worse than bad sound.

My personal favourite because I like the Bass tab - it sneaks up on you. But boring to watch.

@DownMoreThanUp lol that is Lombard St in San Francisco. I haven't been up or down it because the tour bus was too big to use it. It is really quite amazing.

There is a street in Scarborough that is the same as your zig zag street, can't remember the name but I remember my driving instructor making me drive it when I first took lessons as an 18 year old.

That is hilarious that the instructor said he didn't want to get in a car with you again! At least you knew what you were doing!

Ah the bad old days when everyone drank and drove. I admit I did it a couple of times, the last time I did I was coming home from a friends' place and we'd had a couple of drinks before dinner, then more with dinner and more after dinner. I knew I was over the limit and blow me down there was a booze bus on the highway. I prayed, smoked several cigarettes, drank water - all the things you do to try and lessen the amount of alcohol on your breath that don't work! - and then watched as the first car was waved through, then the second, third, fourth and fifth. I really thought my luck had run out and I was a goner. God intervened that night because I was waved through and the person behind me pulled over. I never drank and drove again!

Re: New Music Thread (for all music, not just new)

@Bunniekins what do you mean by wasp? The only meaning I know is White Anglo Saxon Protestant xo

Re: New Music Thread (for all music, not just new)

@Bunniekins - WASP

Do you mean the band was like a winged insect, narrow waist yellow with black stripes and a sting. Makes paper nest from wood pulp?

Re: New Music Thread (for all music, not just new)

@ENKELI omg ENKELI i hope i havent opened a can of worms using the term wasp to describe supertramp and this video lololol! as a part wasp being white and part anglo saxon and european (certainly not wealthy or powerful or american) i feel i can criticize the video on those terms being WASPY "WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant) a term for an influential American social group of Northern/British European descent." They shaped wealth and power and US culture and politics from the colonial era through the mid-20th century.

Anyway crucify me now but i stand by my comment. Supertramp is Waspy!
