Not that i met many, and i walked the streets, and supported repeat offenders for years, and literally met thousands of people during this time, but i did meet a few who freaked me out big time i have to confess.
The first truly freaky person i met was on the streets of a major city i was working as a youth worker at the time. i had spend months getting to know the kids considered at risk and had a really nice group of young people i could just walk inside their home at the time. Me befriending them offering our services as a youth agency in the region, and they all troubled young people needing an ear and a shoulder to cry on. For although many had tough veneers they were often deeply hurting hearts underneath.
Anyhow one day i came to the house that had welcomed me but found no one inside but heard laughing coming from the back. By the sounds it sounded like a lot of young people were there having a good time. So i walked around to meet up with them in their back yard. The minute i walked in to the group of young people standing around someone i had not met before sitting on the chair telling a very animated story.
Yet the moment he saw me and our eyes met, i knew the familiar freak such a look had on me. Who the f are you he goes full of hostility as reply to my recognition. Honest Bun my arm hairs and neck hairs were up now. Thank God the guys who knew me, began telling this person who i was, and i been helping them, and that i was okay. Some of the ice disappeared out of his look after that. I quickly told him that it had been nice meeting him, but i had only come to say hallo and better be off (lying through my teeth but knowing i needed to get away fast)
Later i found out he had just the day before been released on bail. A violent repeat offender, who stayed out of jail only a few days before he got locked up. (He got 15 years for armed robbery if i remember right.)
And one such a person in jail, years later, visiting locked up believers through my Church. This man was in for life. He was a huge man, a double murderer, serving a double life sentence. All the believing inmates turned out to be scared of him professing himself a Christian. Apart of an foreigner, who was in for only a few more weeks serving for fraud, who told me secretly, how this man controlled every one with the fear of their lives, and how he feared fro his life just saying this. (He did not know how this guy had made me feel when i met him first. But had asked me if i though he was a true believer) i know such persons are in for life right. So nothing matters to them. i never been back after i got told that in confidence, seeing him fearing this guy, or anyone for that matter, overhearing me telling me about what this person was like at the time. So when i saw him measuring me up i knew my time was up coming here. (high security jails freak me even without such inmates, he topped that horrible gut feeling all time though.)
Please do not get me wrong i met many people who have committed violent crimes and i have not such issues with. Once in after i had been forcefully taken to hospital. A met a man who was considered dangerous to be around, without me knowing that at the time. However we had a great time comparing notes, and him bumming my smokes, for he had none and was hanging out badly. He even insisted i have his 'bad boy' jacket, for his brother had stolen it and he didn't need it, and of course i was his friend for life just for sharing my smokes with him (i rolled them for him for he could not.)
My problem was i had been brought by the royal flying doctors without jacket or jumper, and i was freezing mid Winter. So i promised i buy him some packets of smokes when the shop was back open again. For he was without and he gladly agreed.
However, i heard later, he got into a physical fight with a warden that night and was back in the locked ward. i really wanted to give him his smokes knowing how hard it is to crave and keep your cool. The hassle i had seeing him. In the end i was granted my meeting. Guards all around us ready to jump him, while of course he was very happy to see me, and had absolutely no desire whatsoever to harm me, but was dying for those packets of smokes.😁 We sat smoking together for ages continuing our conversation of the night before. So honestly i do not say it lightly that someone has a reptile heart and we have to really careful before we conclude such things about others.
i' m sharing you this to try and show you how FAST the difference is between those who sold their soul to evil, true reptile hearts to have after that, and those who are overcome by bad life hurting, and not acting out of their free will.
