Hey @MedicinalGypsy, thanks for sharing your experiences with the community!

It sounds like you are going through quite a bit and have tried to reach out and you are not getting the support you need. I know how challenging it can be to have to repeat your story just so you can get some support. I am dioagnosed with schizophrenia and have had many different supports over my time.

Here at SANE we have the Guided Recovery program where you can get support from a Peer Support Worker or Counsellor for 15 weeks and have 1:1 support sessions with the same worker. It's a great services for getting some consistent support and not having to retell your story each time. I will pop some details below if you want to check it out sometime.

Guided Recovery - Welcome to SANE’s Guided Recovery and decide if you want to pursue it.
Whenever you are ready, you can chat to SANE’s mental health support workers who can assist with a referral, simply call 1800 187 263 or chat on the webchat at sane.org and let them know that you were referred from forums. They can help you with questions and check things like whether you have enrolled before or not. They're available 10am – 8pm Mon-Fri.
I encourage you to continue to share your story wiht your peers!
Take care

Thank you I've spoken to sane and mindspot unfortunately they don't work with domestic violence @RiverSeal this was a response in the email, so I've felt more stuck with not the support I need. Im bubbling with extremely overwhelm im frightened to go outside of my space I've got no window of tolerance and its a jungle out there some people have no compassion let alone be kind to vulnerable people

Re: Dysregulated nervous system cptsd

I hear you, and what you're describing makes complete sense given what you've been through. Your nervous system is doing exactly what it's designed to do - protect you from further harm. The racing heart, tears, overwhelm, and even the freeze response aren't signs that you're broken; they're signs that your body has been working overtime to keep you safe.

Understanding Your Nervous System Response - When we experience ongoing trauma (like the manipulation and abuse you've discovered), our nervous system gets stuck in protective mode. It's like having a smoke alarm that keeps going off even when there's no fire - but your body doesn't know the immediate danger has passed.

The freeze/dissociation you're experiencing is actually one of your nervous system's protective responses. When fight or flight feels impossible, our system goes into a shutdown mode to conserve energy and protect us from overwhelm. This isn't your fault or a failure - it's survival intelligence.

Some Gentle Starting Points Xxx

While you're waiting for trauma therapy, here are some basic nervous system regulation approaches that might help:

For the Racing Heart & Overwhelm:

-Try extending your exhale longer than your inhale (breathe in for 4, out for 6-8)

-Place both hands on your heart and take slow, deep breaths

-Cold water on your wrists or face can help activate your vagus nerve

For the Freeze/Stuck Feeling:

- Gentle movement can help shift stuck energy - even wiggling your fingers and toes

- Grounding through your senses: name 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear

For the Gut Stress:

- Warm compress on your belly while breathing deeply

- Gentle self-massage around your abdomen

You're Already Doing So Much Right - The fact that you're journalling and have tools shows incredible self-awareness. Sometimes when we're dysregulated, even the tools we know can feel impossible to access - this is normal and temporary.

Your recognition about needing to "get this stuff out of your space" to focus on yourself shows such wisdom. Creating physical and emotional safety is the foundation for nervous system healing.

Trauma therapy will be incredibly helpful, but in the meantime, be patient with your system. Healing isn't linear, and your body is processing years of stress and recent shocking discoveries.

You mentioned rediscovering who you are - this is beautiful and possible. Underneath all this protection and survival response is your authentic self, waiting.

You're not lost, even though it feels that way right now. You're in the middle of reclaiming your life, and that takes enormous courage.

Would it help to focus on just one tiny nervous system regulation practice each day?

Sometimes when we're overwhelmed, starting microscopically small can help us build momentum without triggering more overwhelm. Sending you gentle support. 💙

@ccau_82 thank you your advice I cried reading it im very appreciative as something s I haven't tried. Im very much trying to stay in a calm place, im not interacting with others as I can feel myself my internal energies get triggered, I fell apart on Friday my mothers car battery went flat i felt like I was watching me go around in circles i was struggling to work out what to do, it took me half hour to get my head together so I could come up with a solution.
I feel grieving emotions come up
I've always been able to come up with solutions last 5 years has been difficult at times watching my confidence deplete.
I have just done a trauma
Tapping, havening and breathwork program its simple 5 minutes Each exercise Global intuitive peacefulheart have created for all community members
Thank you for your support 🙏

Re: Dysregulated nervous system cptsd

Yes i know how hard it can be to cope with C.P.T.S.D symptoms, such can really rile us up in no time flat.

My biggest problem dealing with my trauma emotions turned out to be me trying SO HARD not to feel the emotions i could not cope with. Rather than learning to take small bites, and then to re-analysis my emotional response to the event, holding love for self with all i got, rather than let the loveless emotions of the trauma overwhelm me and do more damage dragging me back down again.

i left both rage and anxiety behind learning to do that. Though it did take me a few years to master.

@DownMoreThanUp its certainly is the emotions sometimes scare me, and others too, I am learning I've learnt recently my Rage my Anger is the sound of my soul saying Not Anymore. I've been silent for years I'd buried my voice under layers of silence and survival, I want to turn my Anger Rage and pain into strength and wisdom healing medicine for me. I have a lot of symptoms 😕 I have so many processes happening internally im sick of suffering and the daily unwellness isn't quality of life
I can't even talk about what's been going on my body just gets so overwhelming emotions uggg I have isemechi heart issues and been having mini ischemic strokes I need to support my body its crying out. Im glad you have mastered it, I was thinking of going to buddist temple for 10 days silence unfortunately they won't accept my application lol too much unwellness going on

Roll on Wednesday 9am brainspotting with a psychotherapist never heard of it before they are holistic approach

Re: Dysregulated nervous system cptsd

i so understand what you are saying.

i suffered for years from P.T.S.D rage, distrust, paranoia and bouts of life threatening anxiety. As well as depression, psychosis, headaches, and for years from autoimmune disorder.

All of that came alive inside of me, because the wrong put in me was still doing wrong to me, with me suppressing my feelings and hating myself for them. But i had to learn to let love, compassion and kindness heal inside what cruelty, meanness, and loveless deed(s) had killed in me, not add more to the hate my attackers had brought me, but rather to learn to defuse all those feelings, forgiving the unforgivable and loving myself back on my feet.

For me it was placing my faith in the love of Jesus to heal me, internalising His love freely while giving my past Christian religious upbringing the boot for being worse than useless.😄\

A Way Out Of Depression

How can i have meaning if i don't love?

everything else is but a clinging cymbal,

My heart a hollow sounding gong!

of no importance in the scheme of things,

while a loving faith takes me Home to Him!

He who is love Himself lets me in His love!

teaching me how to love all His children too!

So God's love finds a way out of my darkness,

me dumping loveless hell hole hurting me.

For God's love is my Way out of this dungeon.
