Carbs are a pain for blood sugars. I'm insulin-resistant, so I try to be a bit aware of what I'm eating and how my blood sugars will respond. But I'm too much of a sook to finger-ouch to see how my body is responding to different complex carbs - but im curious to know for my own food considerations.

I've been told that fats help slow down the digestion of sugars - and that's why some carbohydrate foods can be medium-GI even though you might expect them to be high-GI. But since im overweight too the fat isnt great for me either lol.

I try to eat lentils added into meals to add some protein filler; its one of the complex carbs id be interested to know how my body responds to.

I have a big sweet tooth, but try to use sugar-free options where I can (or no added sugar). I also love bread and pasta, but have tried to minimise it for 20 years due to weight gains from it. Its a treat food though that I can still enjoy sometimes 😊.

When I invent a sugar-free low-fat ice cream that actually tastes and feels nice, I'll share it will all of you lol. Bonus points if its gluten-free and dairy-free lol.

I mean added sugar. I will still eat carbs which turn into glucose.

Because I'm "only" IR and not Type 2 I cant access discounted products via government programs.

Oh @Shaz51 what an early morning you have had! Sounds like your grandson has had a great birthday!! I agree with @AlwaysMyself, you can never go wrong with ice-cream cake!! Yum! I love icecream!

That sounds rough Shaz that you have to have injections 3 times a day 😌, hats off to you, it would take a lot of courage and commitment to continue with that medicine.

I won’t forgot about your dog now @EzW a tall beagle lol 🤣, saw they were bred for tracking rabbits, yours must have a great nose, can you let him off the leash for walks? I know most beagle owners don’t as if there dog gets on a scent they are off! I have done scent work with my girl Indi, that’s been a lot of fun!

Hi @LostInDarkness, I also wonder like Shaz if you like tea or coffee? Personally I like coffee :). However if it’s cold I do love a tea at times and my favourite was the red green vanilla from t2 but not sure if they make it anymore.

@Former-Member sorry to hear about the roast chicken 😌, how long does it generally take for you to recover? Hope you can have a nice relaxing arvo 😊

Also a random rookie forum question, I have noticed when I react to hearts they go a different colour, from faint pink, darker pink and orange on different posts. Does anyone know if it means anything in the difference in the coloured hearts? 💙
