Sunday Coffee and Chat -- 17th August 2025

@AlwaysMyself, hmmm she’s been pretty good actually all of her 9 years, I am very lucky. I still always get the ball on my lap she loves that but have kept her very active and have made a real effort to keep her brain busy, we have done some super cool things!

Wow I had to google a Borzoi! I think I have seen them kind of like a greyhound with long hair? Haha so cute are they fast like a grey hound?

Yeah my girl is great when I am not feeling very good. I am thankful everyday I have her 😊

I have 3 Cats @Shaz51 2 areTortoiseshells, 1 is black long-hair.

Plus about 40 finches, Parrots & Doves of more than 9 different species.

Menagerie at my place, although none of my Birds are flying around in the house.

@Chasingsunsets yes, borzoi are good runners (and sleepers) like greyhound 😊 but a little less fast. I guess fur isn't good for speed? Lol

Pretty much a long-haired long-snooted long-legged long-bodied greyhound 🤭. They were originally bred from them and another dog species.

@Adge wow! I love your range of pets 🥰.I bet there is a lovely variety of colours and patterns in both your birds and cats! 😊 tortoise shell cats are so pretty.

Wow @Adge you have a full house! What kind of finches to you have, like @AlwaysMyself I also love animals 😊.

I do love the crimson finches and one day I’d love to see a gouldian finch, all finches are pretty flighty in the wild so can be hard to watch them.

Also @AlwaysMyself the long hair might mean they can’t run as fast but maybe a lot warmer haha. If you live somewhere cold that would be a good plus lol!!

@ENKELI I am glad you had a good day. Just wondering, if you can retrain your cat from waking you, by NOT giving a treat in the middle of the night. It might be hard at first, but worth it long term. Just that if you keep rewarding a behaviour, they will repeat it.

Haha my cats just jumped on my bed, but I keep their feeding gently regular, and treats usually between 4-8. I am a little spontaneous about treats, but we are actually cutting back as we don’t want them to get too big. They are utterly gorgeous and love each other and play and spar and explore together and cuddle. They don’t often wake me though they do like the body warmth and snuggle. One of my cats is more demanding and perky, but often its for attention more than food, they can always graze through the night on dry food which the vets say is more nutritious anyway.

@Adge wow, I remember you telling us about your birds years ago, your place must have a great atmosphere, and you love cats too. There can be a place for all god’s critters.

@Appleblossom yes, I am making a rod for my own back but I have to confess I don't really mind! If I really don't want him to annoy me I just leave a pile of his treats on his special mat so he can munch without annoying me. My brother and I are both slaves to our cats!

@Chasingsunsets I have Canaries, Zebra Finches, Java Finches, Bengalese Finches, Goldfinches, Red-Faced Parrot-Finches, Red-Billed Firefinches, one Spice/ Nutmeg Finch.

Plus Fischers Lovebirds, Peachface Lovebirds, Cockatiels/ Weeros, Budgies, & Barbary Doves.
