EOI: SANE Voices Newsletter edition 2!

EOI: SANE Voices Newsletter edition 2!

Hey forumites! 👋

It's time to start putting the feelers out for our second edition of the SANE Forums newsletter

If you missed our first one, our newsletter, SANE Voices is a newsletter for the community, created by the community.

This is an opportunity for our forums members to get involved and help contribute to a recovery-focused newsletter that explores topics important to and reflective of our wonderful community here. You can check out our first newsletter here.

We're putting out an expressions of interest to get involved - once we've got our working group, we'll contact everyone individually and support you in completing your piece for the newsletter. Once the community has written up their topics, us mods will compile them into an online newsletter format and share it with everyone at SANE! We're aiming to get this next edition up in October so we have a bit of time.

If you are keen on joining the newsletter working group, please send us an email (team@saneforums.org) or reply to this thread, letting us know a topic you’d be interested in contributing to. We’ll reach out to you individually to provide you with more details on what to write up.

For some examples, our last newsletter topics included:

  • Recovery Topics
  • Advocacy
  • Birthdays
  • Fun trivia and puzzles
  • AI generated graphics of member pets
  • Crafts section
  • Culture
  • Pets

We're always open to new topics, so if you've got another idea let's get brainstorming here!

The expression of interest to join the SANE Voices newsletter working group for the second issue closes on Friday, August 22nd, 2025.

If you didn’t get the chance to contribute to the first edition we'd love to have you be apart of this one, or you’re just not feeling up to it this time around – don’t stress, the door will always be open for next time!

@Ru-bee

I’ve sent through email with thought of possible idea for the newsletter.

Not sure if suitable. If suitable, I have couple thoughts about how it could be printed

No pros if not suitable

Sorry for the delay, I've had a few days off @avant-garde and I'm very sorry for not tagging you initially, that was definitely just a mistake where I must've thought I'd already tagged you, we'd absolutely love you to be involved again!

@Judi9877 that knitting idea sounds great, I'd be keen to check out that pattern beanie myself!

So great to see so many people sending through ideas already! 😀

Re: EOI: SANE Voices Newsletter edition 2!

Hi @Ru-bee . Thanks for the great response to my suggestion about knitting. I’m so glad you think it’s relevant and appropriate for the newsletter- it’s definitely given me a confidence boost which I really needed right now. I’ll look at doing the article this weekend as I’ve received the email a few days ago. I’ll also include the beanie pattern and relevant references as well. Can you just confirm the email for the article to be sent to please or how I send the article to you? Thanks!

I was just thinking about other potential topics for an upcoming magazine that may be suitable such as:

- A coping toolkit/ sensory box to list items to help people in distress like fidget toys, aromatherapy oils, something soft, etc. My housemate/best friend is currently putting her own kit together to help her with times of anxiety and stress and I’ve also learnt about this at my recent PARCS stay as they believe it can be helpful for mental health recovery and illness.

- I like the music/songs idea! I often use music to help me with my mental health issues and have several playlists on my phone to utilise during times I need them. It would be very interesting to read what songs forum members like and enjoy and which help them!

- Maybe a list of books that forum members have found to be helpful with their mental health journey and recovery?

Take care!
