Severe health anixety

Severe health anixety

I’m feeling really alone at the moment, I’ve suffered with severe anxiety since 2018 and unfortunately have faced a number of challenges but this by far being one of the hardest to overcome. I’ve been having left arm/shoulder pain with heart palpitations for 6 almost 7 weeks and I automatically assume I was having a heart attack and went to the ER about 5 weeks ago now roughly. All bloods came back negative, ecg showed a sinus rhythm (normal for all my ecg’s) and was informed it’s just anxiety with a possible strained muscle from repetitive action. I’ve since had another set of bloods (negative) and another ecg which was also negative, 24 hour heart monitor also shows nothing abnormal.. has anyone experienced this and still convinced they are having a heart attack? I see my doctor weekly due to fears and she gets reassuring me that I’m okay and healthy but the left arm pain has me extremely worried they are prolonged symptoms of a heart attack.. please tell me I’m not alone😔

Hey @Overanixety02, thanks for sharing your experiences with the community!

Sounds like you have had all the tests and had a professional medical diagnosis of your condition. Which is great and probably best to seek advice from a doctor for your condition.

I do encourage you to reach out to your peers and keep them updated but the Forums are not somewhere to seek medical advice from other Members.

Take care

Hello @Overanixety02 it sounds scary and painful for you.

I've experienced similar symptoms at times some years ago. It's very discouraging and can feel dismissive to be told it's "just" anxiety. I won't go into my own details heartwise. But I consulted an osteopath about the shoulder pain. A physiotherapist could also help. With exercises massage and otc pain relief you may feel much better. Personally I appreciated the holistic mindset and empathy from my osteopath who's also helped with other things.

I'm glad you've had a good heart work-up and they've found nothing untoward. If they'd found anything they'd have referred you for further testing.

Take care.
