@Messylife I wanted to stop by and say hi.
When I was at Uni, I started in a combined Bachelor of Arts/Law degree with a double major in History and Ancient Civilisations. I got three years into a five year law degree before things kind of fell apart.
I lost both of my grandparents within a year of each other. This caused a pretty big decline in my own mental health. I would go to Uni because I travelled with my Mum, but couldn't get myself to class. I would hide out in the computer lab all day. After so many missed classes, my Criminal Law lecturer called me in for a meeting and told me that he wouldn't allow me to sit my exams. I tried to make a case for myself, asking for help because I was grieving and I was struggling with my own mental health. He wouldn't budge, nor would he help me. I sat my other exams and just scraped by - but I passed. But because I wasn't allowed to sit my Criminal Law exam, I had failed that year of my Law degree and couldn't continue.
I was pretty devastated and it was a pivotal transition for me. I decided to finish my Arts degree and start a Post Grad teaching degree.
I'm a teacher now, but I have many other qualifications and certifications up my sleeve.
I guess over the years, one thing I've learned is that there is always an opportunity to pivot, to learn something new, to try something new. You get to design the course of your life, your career and who and what you wish to be.
