Seeking help for the supporters of recovering addicts.

Seeking help for the supporters of recovering addicts.

Hi, all.

I am a supporter of my partner who is 6 months clean from his drug addiction 👏🖤. I understand there is so much support out there for our loved ones fighting this addiction, but are there zoom meetings or anything of the like to support the supporters?

I am emotionally drained. I am stuck at a time where he is struggling with cravings (even in his sleep) and I need help. I am seeing a psychologist and am about to start antidepressants again. But I also need conversation with people who are in the same boat as me and who understands.

hey @WahineWarrior welcome!

looking after loved one's can be draining. it's great that you're looking for support for yourself too, you're absolutely not alone here.

SANE's Guided Recovery and RecoveryClub programs both offer zoom support groups covering topics from the CHIME mental health recovery framework. it's a great place to learn as well as connect with peers who also have lived experiences.

another option is Carer Gateway - they have a range of supports available, from online to face-to-face support. there's also breakthrough who have a variety of supports for families of those dealing with addiction.
