Hurt in the past

Hurt in the past

When I went to college I didn’t fit in and I broke down. I had a short psychosis when I went home. My family looked after me and I slowly got better over the next six months. I went to uni for a while and there was this great course called spirituality and rites of passage. I quit uni and had a spiritual experience. My heart was whispered open and I had a connection to everyone in the universe. I felt a deep sense of peace and love. My family thought I was unwell and put me in hospital. They wanted to medicate me. They didn’t want to know about my spiritual experience. I had a dystonic reaction to the medication. They moved me out of that hospital into another. That made me a bit unwell. Then they put me on yellow pills, I had another dystonic reaction but this time they made me take it for two months. I literally could not lift my head without a neck brace. They wouldn’t let me see a neurologist until my father insisted. The neurologist said take her off that. I feel that the dr was negligent. I am deeply traumatised by this experience.

Hey @Kim47 ,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. We are sorry to hear about the hurt you have experienced. It sounds like it was a very difficult time.

As you navigate the challenges that come with mental health, what do you find helpful?

Re: Hurt in the past

@Kim47 Hi, I'm sorry you experienced all those negative things. In regards to the spirituality, how are you continuing with that? time in nature? meditating? reading books or information? I'm asking as you mentioned your profound spiritual experience and the positive effects it had on you, and I'm hoping you continued with some spiritual work.

Meditation is helpful. Also a kind empathetic listening ear.
