Coming out of psychosis

Coming out of psychosis

I’m currently coming out of an 8month trauma and adhd medication psychosis. I’ve destroyed my whole life. The fall out of this is too devastating to try and comprehend yet. But I’ve destroyed my marriage and my family won’t speak to me ever again. But my main feelings that are happening is shame and embarrassment due to an infatuation I developed with a work colleague, he has been fine with me about it. But when I was in psychosis, my brain was telling me I was very attractive and had loads of confidence, now I’m back to reality, I hate myself and my body again and feel extreme shame.
why does my brain search for love that is not available and fixate on it?
my husband didn’t treat me well, but why would I develop such an infatuation with someone I can’t be with?
now I just want my husband back and to feel safe again.
this is an absolute nightmare and I can’t think how I’m going to repair anything or move forward

Re: Coming out of psychosis

Hello @Lozenge21,

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I want to acknowledge just how much courage that must have taken to express... it sounds like you have been through so much. ❤️

I can see you are still processing what has been happening and I want to invite you to take things at your own pace. We will all be here for you when you are ready. ☺️

Experiencing the effects of medication-induced psychosis sounds so incredibly overwhelming - your body and mind must have been very heightened at the time. When we are in the midst of mania (or any heightened state), it can be hard to connect with other parts of ourselves - it is very, very complex. I would really like you to know that we aren't judging you for any of this. From what you have shared, I can hear a person who is deeply yearning for connection, to be seen and understood, all the while dealing with some very big feelings and challenges. For example, your husband not treating you well sounds really vulnerable and heartbreaking...

I know it may not feel like things can shift for you right now, but in time, they will.

I am wondering, what do you need most from our community right now? Maybe we can start there? 🥰
