Re: Everything Birds

Hi @Former-Member Sorry - I'm in shock.

Won't be posting much today (too much).

I was terminated from my Disability Support job, this morning.

No warning or indication was given.

I was still expecting to be doing my Annual Performance Review (this week).

I received a phone call from an unknown HR person (at head office).

Then a Termination Letter (via email) - stating Redundancy as the reason.

The letter simply said that my position has been abolished.

It may take days for it to sink in, to recover from shock & feel calm & okay.

I'm trying to restock bird cages & aviaries (right now) - not getting very far, because I'm in a daze.

Emergency Hug coming your way. Oh @Adge , only just got your post. That's not good. Being terminated like that. So unexpectedly. Redundant 😢😞 Really feel for you. Oh dear, I don't know what to say... Was it affective immediately or do you have to endure them longer? I wouldn't do it. Stuff 'em! They've been horrible to you anyway... think maybe you're better off without them. At least NEWSTART / jobseeker pays well atm. Its still a big loss, and given your past trauma, you would feel it hard (like me). Be kind and gentle with yourself for a while. . Hopefully you've gone to bed asleep by now, but if not - let me know if you are ok? Have you settled down? Oh dear. I'm worried about you, gonna call on the troops... get some rest 🐦🐦🐦🐦..

Re: Everything Birds

Hey @Adge im so sorry about your job! They shouldnt be able to terminate a job without even a warning or word things are going downhill.
You should still be able to get some income though, i dont think theycan leave you cashless esp without the 2 week warning.
maybe apply for centrelink tomorrow to get the process rolling, there wont be many jobs atm but maybe you could do something like Mable. You can check it out easyily online. People are always after disability workers-its private work through individual people rather then a company. You set your own fees working hours etc. Hope this helps, i know you would be in shock atm and trying to process things. Take your time with it

Hey @Former-Member hope your going ok tonight

Re: Everything Birds

make sure you get separation cert for centrelink @Adge , and have like 10 day window for unfair dismissal claim think ,, plus better off without them sounds tbh

Re: Everything Birds

make sure get separation cert first and there is a time limit on unfair dismissal I found out the the hard way years ago. Got depressed and couldnt go to work for seemingly good employer. got given promises, ultimatums and the ignored. Think they were relieved when I eventually asked for separation cert months later as tat somehow meant I had quit, well I needed an income .. @Faith-and-Hope @Adge

Re: Everything Birds

Thank you @Faith-and-Hope

Thanks @MDT

Yes they can do that (unfortunately).

The small payout is in leu of not having given me several week's notice - as I'm obliged to do for them.

Very abrupt, which apparently is too common practice (now).

This leaves them (possibly) with no experienced front-line workers (Carers).

Which makes absolutely no sense.

Adge
