Hi all.

I guess my self-care today was to get my hair done.

I have dread locks and once every three months I go and see my locktician for a maintenance appointment. So, today was the day.

Maintenance hurts, bruises my scalp and makes my dreads tight for about a week until they start to loosen, but it's worth it for tidy, looked after dreads.

It's a big six hour chunk out of my day. It took 3 hours to do my hair and then a 1.5 hour drive there and back again.

@creative_writer it's actually less care to look after them than it was when my hair wasn't in locks. I hated my hair - I cut it super short, dyed it and straightened it all my life, from my teenage years through to adulthood. Then maybe three years ago...I took a stand against my hair and had it locked!

That's kind of you to say @Shaz51. My scalp is sore, but at least it can breathe again.

I get my hair retouched and highlights as I have grey hairs appearing 😁
