Do others feel the same?

Do others feel the same?

Hi

I'm lucky to have been introduced to this site and I'm wondering if others feel the same as me?

My husband served for 30+ years and was medically discharged in 2019. He suffers many issues including PTSD, depression, and many other things due to medical etc. He is trying his best and getting help, which is great.

I know he loves me very much even though he doesn't show it, but I feel as if he is pushing me away. We haven't been intimate for a few years due to meds and that is not an issue.

Communication when important is full of grunts or sighs. If I try to tell him how I feel he seems to get offensive. We talk about so much but not the important things.

I will never leave him as he means the world to me, I just feel alone. Do others feel the same in their relationships?

Re: Do others feel the same?

I try to remember that I have control of how "hectic" my life actually is and it doesn't need to meet anybodies expectations but my own. I have chosen to slow down on purpose lately and enjoy the simple things that used to make me happy as a child before the internet in particular took over. Wearing a watch again has done wonders from being able to disconnect from my phone. I love being outside pottering around in my garden lately

My husband has recently realised that he may have developed dissociative identity disorder as a way to cope with his PTSD. It's allowed both of us to reflect back on some of our previous difficulties in a new light. I now understand what my husband needs from me in each situation more clearly, and can give him the type of support he needs at the time without adding more stress to his suffering. I love every part of him, and every part of him loves me. It gets hard some days yes, but we're in it for the long haul. I'll keep patiently providing the love and support he needs and was sadly lacking when he was younger
