Depression or burnout

Depression or burnout

I had a breakdown at work from too much work, being underskilled and having an unhappy client.

Now, I wake dreading to go to work, I wake before my alarm (often 2-3 hours before), anxious when I get phone calls or emails.

I now feel drained, empty, hollow and I'm disassociating a lot. I don't have the energy to do anything, I don't want to eat, go to the gym, do housework or work.

I do somethings as I have children dependant on me but I feel like I wake without the energy to take the day on.

Is this depression or burnout?

Re: Depression or burnout

Being burnout with kids is hard. They want to do all the things and I want to do nothing but rot on the couch.

I feel so bad for them, I feel guilty for saying no, for getting angry, for letting the house get messy, for everything.

It's Sunday here and I'm dreading going to work tomorrow 😞😵‍💫🫣 my mind tosses between 'keep going it will get better' to 'im so done and just want to quit' it's so exhausting

Re: Depression or burnout

Had my 3rd EAP session yesterday. They have been going really well and kinda sad i only get 4 sessions with the social worker. I cannot afford to have more than the 4.

I'm still working, but my workload has been reduced. I just don't have the motivation for it all. I barely have the energy to get work done.

I will be having some time off (about 3 weeks) to work on myself and hopefully get that spark back. But just need to organise with my work when to take that. 'There is never a good time to take leave' is what I got from my coordinator. Sometimes its hard working on a small team

Hey @mr_stevens , I just want to welcome you to the forums. I only just saw your post here.

Great to see you. Hope you see you around more often!

Hey @Anxious_Mumma ,

I haven't heard from you in a long time, but I just wanted to say that you mentioned EAP covers 4 sessions.

If it's the same or similar EAP service to what I've had in the past, I got 3-5 sessions for EACH issue I had.

That meant, if I contacted EAP to talk about workplace bullying and used up 4 sessions, I could then call again later for payrise issues and get another 4 sessions.

Is this something you can look into?
