Psychiatrists
No wonder psychiatrists are now only available for telehealth appointments and so hard to see face to face.
They're earning between $700k - $900k working from home.

Hey @Egonza, thank you for sharing your experiences with the community!
Sounds like you go through some tough times when you are experiencing symptoms, and with your psychiatrist. Sorry, that's your experience, and I can relate to losing jobs due to MH as I have had that happen when I had psychotic episodes and lost touch with reality, it's not nice. I have also had challenges with some therapists and had to stop seeing them and find new ones who supported me in the way I needed and expected.
I understand that it is challenging to find a psychiatrist at the moment, but it is your right to change or request a new support or service. There are also formal pathways for making complaints and providing feedback as well if you ever want to take that path. Please just reach out here on the Forums and you will get supported with you enquiry by the community.
A psychiatrist can hand you over to a GP to prescribe medications if you are stable and don't need medications changes or a doiagnosis. It's not too complicated so I encourage you to ask your psychiatrist if this fits in with you at any time. It can often take a while though to find a medication that works for you and I have been on several as an example but some people may take more or fewer and it can change over time too. What works for one person may be different for others so a psychiatrist is the best person to explore options with you.
What @tyme mentioned about RecoveryClub is great and groups can be so beneficial connecting with others and providing peer support. We also have the Guided Recovery program where you can have 7 1:1 sessions with either a Peer Support Worker or a Counsellor. It can be great to talk with someone who gets it!

I feel so afraid to do anything at the moment. I only keep going to the gym. Somehow I always find the strength and the motivation to train.
I look intimidating to some people but I am a very quiet peaceful person.
I managed to become a registered nurse and I worked many years in this profession but nursing is too challenging particularly for people with mental health problems like me. I should have never chosen nursing as a career. Now I am 56 and I don't know what to do.
With a lot of work I managed to cash some insurance through my super but that was a battle particularly with psychiatrists, they put a lot of resistance to help me with my superannuation insurance. I couldn't work anymore I was in hospital every year and they couldn't see that.
I will work again in the future but now I just need to take a break. I had so many dreams and everything came crushing down particularly during and after covid.

hey @Egonza thanks for sharing, and even though things are overwhelming at the moment for you, i'm glad you've got gym to keep you moving.
covid was definitely a tough time with lots of tricky transitions and adjustments. taking a break for now to look after yourself sounds like a good idea, take care 💙
