Dealing with delusion

Dealing with delusion

I'm currently going through a heartbreaking time with my partner of 4 years. He is convinced that I have slept with a family member.

I believe he is suffering post stroke psychosis but do not know what to do. I have tried to reason with him and even explained out all his "evidence".

This is shattering on so many levels for both of us and I don't know what to do

Hi Glisten, and thank you for reaching out to me.

He saw a therapist however the therapist told him that "sometimes things like this happen and he needs to move on".

I'm trying to get get him to take me with him so I can speak to the therapist but his response is that I want to gaslight him.

I'm so lost and heartbroken that the man I love is also heartbroken over something that isn't real

Re: Dealing with delusion

@Brooke5 If your husband’s condition stems from having a brain 🧠 aneurysm, a neurologist or a neurobiologist might be more appropriate.

There is nothing better than having expert advice from younger professionals.

@Brooke5

It sounds like your husband needs more medical help than just therapy.

I really feel for you as I had similar mistrust difficulties in my previous relationship, albeit without medical complications being the cause. It can be beyond hurtful when the person who is supposed to be there with you on your life journey is insecure or even paranoid about your faithfulness.

Does your husband have a doctor or team that works with him about his health?

If so, it would be worthwhile contacting them if possible and raising your concerns.

Also, please be careful. People undergoing mental episodes that alter their reality can be a danger to themselves or others, I believe it would be safer to have professionals step in.

Please keep yourself safe and I hope everything improves soon ❤️
