Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Emotional dysregulation

Emotional dysregulation

during covid I had a pretty bad time at work. I started losing it and having angry outbursts. It would only be in private I'd have dreaded to let anybody see or know. But this has now become a routine thing- I get very angry, the tiniest thing sets me off and I'll go into a rant and sometimes lose all sense of reality as in forget people might be near me- I just go off like a crazy banshee swearing and ranting away to myself. I often feel like I want to smash things and sometimes i do.

it definitely isn't normal

but so many things now are frustrating me and making me angry. I am

hating life. I want to change my name and just disappear. I. Oils never be with somebody, nobody would tolerate my behaviour or even thoughts. It's been hard to keep a job and kinda. Contributed to losing my last iob. Now I can't get a bloody job either. I'm really quite miserable and lost

what to do?

Re: Emotional dysregulation

Hello @Spoo, thankyou for sharing what's been going on for you, it takes alot of strength to reach out for support. I can hear how much these angry outbursts have been affecting you and having an impact on different aspects of your life. I'm really sorry to hear how much of a toll it's taking on you, but know that you are not alone and we are here for you.

Have you thought about seeing a gp to get a referral to see a psychologist/counsellor? It might be helpful to talk to someone and maybe learn some coping strategies to help manage these outbursts cos it definitely sounds exhausting for you to have to go through.

Have you found any things in particular that trigger these outbursts or is it just random things that can set it off? Do you have things that you enjoy doing when you aren't having the outbursts, maybe there's a way to lean into some things that you enjoy if you can feel yourself getting worked up to maybe bring yourself out of that space before it gets to that point.

I have moments when anger and frustration take over and I want to lash out at myself, I often find physical activity helpful to try to bring myself out of that heightened state. So I'll do things that require me to be moving around whether it be cleaning or walking around, even putting music on and singing and dancing. Just using that built up pressure inside in another way rather than letting it take control and lashing out.

I'm always happy to have a chat if you need/want to. Take care of yourself and I hope you can get the support you need and deserve ❤️
