Happy Pride 2025!!!

Happy Pride 2025!!!

HIYA FORUMS FAM, IT'S YA BOY JYNXY, HERE TO QUEER UP YOUR LIVES THIS PRIDE MONTH!!

This month's theme is 'Love, Respect, Empower'.

I got maaaaad love and respect for my community, and boy oh boy do I wanna help empower them!

Each week this month we are gonna kick off some discussions, and hopefully facilitate some lovely connections amongst the queer community here on the SANE Forums 😊

So for our first discussion topic, we are gonna chat about queer connections!!

How do you connect to the Rainbow Community? What has been your experience of queer connectedness? The good, the bad, and the in-between?

Tagging a few folks I've chatted to about queerness, or who have jumped into queer threads in the past - but please do feel free to tag anyone else who you think would wanna get involved!!

Re: Happy Pride 2025!!!

@Jynx Regarding Mad Pride it has mostly been online searching, in the last 10 years, and loving the movements in Europe, UK and MadinAmerica. Feeling huge at oneness with the cause.

I carried so much shame, whether it was from poverty, or being state ward, or parents and siblings in psych wards. In a way I was more invisible cos I was just a visitor. Mad pride, flips the script. I don’t want it to distract from this thread though, cos I think that’s complicated enough. Maybe food for thought for another discussion.

Re: Happy Pride 2025!!!

Honestly @NightFury sometimes labels are only useful as ways of explaining to others - for me, there's no one label that is going to 100% fit. I use 'non-binary' but sometimes I feel genderqueer. Sometimes I feel trans masc. Similarly I identify as grey asexual because asexual doesn't fully fit but nor do I feel allosexual. I also identify as demisexual and pansexual but have sapphic leanings.

Did that all make sense or did I just overload you with queer jargon? LOL point is that if you feel in any way 'not cis-het' then you belong here 😊

@Appleblossom would you wanna make a thread about it? More than welcome to do so, I'd love to hear your experiences and I think talking about the intersectionality of marginalised identities is VERY important!! Like legit, the intersection of queerness and madness (tho not described as such in the context) was actually a theme that popped up at our recent staff conference as something the organisation is passionate about!

Re: Happy Pride 2025!!!

@Jynx makes sense. I don't know all of the labels or the jargon, but I am more then willing to learn. I don't feel cis-het. I've always had issues with labels and don't sit comfortable with being labelled, so I've tried not to label myself but be open to possibilities. I hope that makes sense?

Aww ty @The-red-centaur 😍💜

Sure does @NightFury! In fact I think you've touched on something that hits really close to home for me, which is that I think human beings are so much more rich and complex than any label could possibly ever describe. To even try to put us wholly into categories of 'male' and 'female' is to deny the infinite scape of possibilities that exist in between the binary.

Re: Happy Pride 2025!!!

@Jynx what an awesome conversation to have...

I just don't want to be put in a box and told that I have to be a certain way and feel a certain way. I just want to 'be' and to be able to be me whatever that entails....whoever that person is.

I don't have to admit that it makes it hard to define me, to put my finger on where I sit in this space of diverse genders and sexualities.

Re: Happy Pride 2025!!!

Haha weirdly enough @NightFury I was reading an interview with a trans guy in Time magazine and he said 'It felt like I'd been put into a box that I never felt I fit into' - and it was THIS that cracked my egg (a saying in the trans community; prior to coming out you're an egg, and realising you're trans is your egg cracking). I came out as non binary like, the next week 😅

I don't really feel like I even have a gender most days. So I can relate to what you're saying for sure!!

@Jynx @NightFury @The-red-centaur @MissGremlin I only think I am a gender some of the time. A very small portion of he time.
