Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Please give me some advice or anything

Please give me some advice or anything

TW: Suicide, self-harm, derealization

Hello, I am new to this website, so please be wary of that.

Recently I have been disconnecting from reality which usually only happens when I'm close to have suicidal thoughts. I feel as if I am getting ti that point. I have lost all of my supports and I have no clue what to do.

I do struggle with suicidal ideation as well as self-harm. However, right now I just feel alone as if I have no one to talk too.

Sorry, I am awful with my words, I am not used to opening up to people.

For context, I have BPD, GAD, as well as MDD

Hi @detachedribs and welcome to the forums.

I know it can be really hard to open up and reach out like this, but I think you've done a good job, no issues with your words whatsoever.

When you say you've lost all your supports, is that your social supports, like friends and family, or professional supports, or both? Either way, we're here to listen and support you. I hope that joining here can help you to feel less alone, as there are so many members here who can relate to what you're going through

hey @detachedribs it's so great that you've picked up on the signs and you're aware of your emotions - it's not always easy to catch onto those changes! and you're reaching out here too which shows a lot of strength. you're absolutely not alone, here for you 💙

are there any healthy strategies that have or haven't helped in managing those thoughts? i'd love to hear what you've tried, and maybe i can suggest some new one's if that's something you're interested in 😊

Re: Please give me some advice or anything

I have tried some distractions, such as drawing and even journalling my feelings. I've even attempted the rubber band on wrist and holding ice cubes; However nothing appears to help.

I would love to know some other healthy strategies though! ❤️

Re: Please give me some advice or anything

@detachedribs @I found being on the forums helped while I established irl support.

there are different mental health and suicide online organisations. Keep searching online and connecting to what speaks to you. Usually longer term support is better than crisis lines, though they have their place.

when you feel up to it, there are recovery and social threads where you can meet others in this community.

I am running out of battery so logging off

take care
