Son with anxiety and health concerns

Son with anxiety and health concerns

I’m struggling at the moment as my youngest son hasn’t addressed his mental health issues and is morbidly obese . I am a nurse so feel a huge guilt about it. His Dad has not been supportive of him getting mental

health help over the the years. We are divorced. He is now 24 with high bloood pressure and sleep apnoea. He saw a psychologist last year but didn’t go back after 3rd appointment as said it made him feel worse. He has anxiety and depression

Re: Son with anxiety and health concerns

Keep supporting your son. Continue taking him for therapies and maybe ask him what sports or what he does like to do for fun? Its one step at a time. Be there for him, listen to him and be the motivator. But dont forget to look after urself. Take it easy. I pray everything works well for you and your son.

@A17

Have you tried headspace? They are full of resources for carers.

Yes he eventually went to headspace last year for 3 sessions but didn’t go again. I have tried for years to get him to go there but when myself and his Dad were still together his Dad said that he could make his own decision and if he didn’t want to go he didn’t have to. He was a teen at the time. Now divorced for obvious reasons

Thankyou for your message x
