Struggles with mental health

Here’s a thoughtful, honest, and impactful message you can post on the SANE Forum, striking a balance between vulnerability, self-awareness, and your desire to be understood:

Title: Struggling with Depth, Disconnection, and Emotional Exhaustion

Hi everyone,

I’ve been sitting with a lot of conflicting thoughts lately, and I wanted to share them here because I’m tired of being misunderstood or told to "just be positive." I’ve always been someone who feels things deeply—pain and frustration with life and status as a temp migrant. I have a strong inner world, and sometimes it feels like that makes me an outlier.

I’m surrounded by people who say they care, but I often feel like a miniscule group of people genuinely listens without trying to fix me or judge me. I cherish those rare friendships, but I also feel drained—mentally and emotionally—especially when I'm expected to be cheerful. I have been contemplating a job change, but the uncertainty surrounding my visa status is hurting my prospects.

I’m an introvert, I connect with dark music, and I’ve had a history of feeling like an outsider since I was born. Some days, I want to isolate and beat myself, while other days, I crave being heard without having to put on a mask.

I don’t know what this all adds up to—burnout, depression, existential fatigue? All I know is I feel emotionally raw, and I’m looking for a space where people won’t downplay that or tell me to just “look on the bright side.”

If you relate, or have any words, I’d really appreciate it. I’m not expecting a fix or a new job—just maybe a moment of human connection that feels real.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day/night.

I hope so, @rav3n.

Although the focus has shifted to solid referrals and networking, I hope I don't go into overdrive.

Wow! Already! Congrats! At least you keep going - a real go-getter. All the best with the rest of the interview process as well as your other applications @Lowrida29 !

Thanks, @tyme.
I hope I don't get submerged by the high expectations I have set since my resignation.

I guess sometimes, we might stumble and trip a little, but it doesn't mean we can't get up. It sounds like you are doing what you can to better yourself, and perhaps these experiences will allow you to watch for warning signs so you don't burnout @Lowrida29

Please take care. There's only one you.

Hi @tyme and @rav3n

Hope you guys are well.

I spoke to my dad about my resignation and he understood the reason for it. As an ex professional that had worked office jobs before, he could empathise with me, and would support me financially until I could land a full time job.

Tears started to roll down my ears because I was afraid of opening up, and I did not want to disappoint him. At the same time, I did not want him to spend a single cent just so I could be branded a failure.

Awww @Lowrida29 ,

Thank you for sharing. That is so precious. I think he could see through everything and knows how hard you work.

Well done for opening up. It takes a lot of courage to do so. I'm glad you did.

Take care hun. I look forward to hearing how your applications go.

Thanks, @tyme

What worries me at this point in time is the job market. Despite the referrals, a lot of companies are taking their own sweet time to entertain interviews or hire people.

Re: Struggles with mental health

i got so emotional just reading that post @Lowrida29 i'm so so proud of you for opening up to your dad, and i'm so glad he understood. sounds like a weight lifted off your shoulders!

i hear you, the referrals and hiring process as well can be time consuming. i hope you're feeling a lot better now that your dad's there to financially support you if things get tricky. fingers crossed more opportunities flow your way 💙

what have you been up to lately?

Re: Struggles with mental health

@rav3n, I am touched by your thoughts. Since then, he has been reaching out to friends and relatives for any leads.

This week, I have a couple of handover meetings with the team to ensure they are ready to fulfill any responsibilities in my absence.

Also, I went on a longer hike, and honestly, I might have to hike a lot more than usual

@Lowrida29 that's so nice of him to keep a look out for opportunities too.

ah yep, so is this week your last week in that role? how long were you in this role for?

oo how long was the hike? i don't know how you do it in this freezing cold weather, i wish i was more dedicated to hiking like you!
