Advice for a painful period of time

Advice for a painful period of time

Hi I am new here.

Just experienced a painful and constant worrying period of time in the morning and checked the resources my GP gave to me, and here I am.

I am an immigrant woman going through a difficult time of my life. Life has been difficult and I need to try very hard to get things okay in my life. I am also in a career transitioning time - ELICOS industry is sinking so I need to find a new job.

I am sure in Melbourne lots of young immigrant women are in the same situation and bothered by mental health issues. I want to throw a post here so people can openly discuss the mental issue and the difficulty of living with it.

Any people with effective coping strategy and recommended therapy/ resources are welcome to share. My difficulty now is waking up feeling terrified and painful, trying to avoid doing things that I have to do. It is so hard, I am still hanging there.

Any voice or advice are welcomed.

Hello @Sasa45945

I just wanted to quickly pop by and welcome you to the forums.

I know it's not easy to reach out somewhere new, do good on you for taking this step. I look forward to seeing the community responses as I know that many people here can relate to at least one aspect of your story, if not all.

Re: Advice for a painful period of time

Hi @Sasa45945

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.
Waking up terrified in the morning is awful.

I’m glad you’re here.

I’m not young anymore but I went through months of waking up terrified early last year. It used to last most of the day, too. I hope it gets better faster than that for you. It takes so so so much more effort to do all your everyday things than if you felt the way you usually do.
I wonder if you have any help or leads in your search for new work?

Im not sure if you’ve heard of it, but there is a free app called Smiling Mind that has guided meditations that I find helpful for managing big feelings, feeling a little better, or getting to sleep.

Some of the meditations are in languages other than English, so perhaps there’s something there in your first language if it wasn’t English. (Just a maybe).

I hope you’re being gentle with yourself. Fear and anxiety are hard, and you’re brave to reach out for help.

Thank you so much 🙂 I have downloaded the app and will take time to explore it. It is morning again, I hope you are doing okay. Today I feel fine - new day new beginning. I hope you have a very nice day kind stranger ...

Hi @Sasa45945 ,

it’s so good to hear you’re having a good morning. I am too, and am so grateful! So many not-so-good feeling mornings lately; a good one is so wonderful.

I hope anything in Smiling Mind feels right for you - but if not, not to worry; it’s just one thing!

Best wishes for your day to continue as peacefully as it’s started 🌿🪴!
