@Jarvis I love your idea of negotiating grief with honour. It must feel so raw and fresh. Much kudos to you for being there. Gradually it may become a treasured memory as you deal with life unfolding. I have never been present when loved ones have passed, but have lost a lot of people.

Firstly, welcome to the Sane forums. I hope that you find it as supportive as I have.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. It sounds like he was a huge part of your life.

I too was with my Dad in the hospital room when he passed away. In one way I was at peace knowing he wasn't in pain anymore, but in another way I still wanted him here with me.

Whilst it has been awhile for me, there are times when I still expect him to walk through the door or give me a call.

We all grieve in our own way, and I don't think anyway is right or wrong. It is not something that I think we ever get over either. Yes we may come to accept it, but it still hurts.
