How do you support the neurodiverse people in your life?
I have disclosed it previously on these forums that I am neurodiverse. I live with autism proudly.
One way that I believe anyone can be neuro-affirming is by accomodating my communication preferences by asking "how would you like to communicate?" People can also be neuroaffirming towards me by assuming competence - this is a big one. Assuming competence looks like someone believing in my ability to perform a task, and to do the task well. It is about people giving me a chance to show them what I am capable of.
How do you support the neurodiverse people in your life? By neurodiverse I do not just mean people who have ASD, I also include people with ADHD,dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia.
