It is a good feeling to look back on a clean house and a job well done @Pepsimax Now you can put your feet up and relax. Will you be watching any good TV shows this evening?

Re: Can someone help me

You should be @Pepsimax .... you're way ahead of me today.

I have just come home with essential household supplies like .... you know .... FOOD .... before my baby dragons are forced to eat the furniture .... (want quite running that low, but teens and 20-somethings perceive it that way ....)

Hi @Former-Member .... I am glad you are feeling more settled today. It must have been a very confronting moment with and for your hubby ....

Mine is checking in with me once or twice a day .... obviously exhausted .... and I have to keep my mind from wandering to scary possible scenarios, particularly while he is so far away. But he is busy, focussed on his regimen, and it's giving us some time-out here .... so I have to be thankful for that much.

I have picked up coat hangers to keep on with clearing up my wardrobe and unpack my case back into it, so that's my main agenda today.

Hello dear @Faith-and-Hope

It was a shocking moment as we both thought the cancer was behind us. I think I am in the adjustment period as my mind is still trying to fathom what has just come upon us. And my daughter has had a turn - I can't believe the timing. So I am trying to take everything in my stride calmly moment to moment. So far so good 🙂

Sometimes I think we all just need to release that initial shock and grief with a vent (which I did with not so good results unfortunately lol), and once that's released we can allow ourselves to adapt. I think I am in that process.

Has your husband gone away? It's good that he is checking in with you up to twice a day to give you peace of mind that he is okay. So important to keep your mind off the scarey scenarios - he will be looked after my friend as you will be and all will be well. It is good that your hubby is keeping busy and focused, that will keep his mind off any negativity that may try and creep in. How long has hubby been gone for now?

Please keep me updated with how it all goes with hubby as I will be thinking of you both. I am always here for you my lovely friend. You are one special lady. We will both get there in the end 💕🌹🤗xx

@Pepsimax 💕🌹😊xx

Re: Can someone help me

Hi @Former-Member

We are just back from overseas. Hubby was 10 days here before returning for work purposes .... but it was convenient in the sense that he needed to escape. The eating disordered daily regimen that controls his day is really incompatible with being married and having a family life, so the more it had taken hold, the more he needs these escapes.

My concerns are the symptoms of his e.d. are gradually getting worse in his state of denial, so J am concerned about his safety and welfare, but while I can't do anything about it, I can't afford to make it a central focus. We just have to carry on with what we can do .....

It does help to vent .... and J know even when he is diagnosed and treated, there will be ongoing issues, and regression ..... it must have been such a shock to you to find you had to swing back into fight mode.....

@Pepsimax ... I am finding myself turning on the Tv again these last couple of nights, looking for things to help take me out of that headspace and continue winding down after our three months away. They were incredible experiences we had, but the effects of the mi were travelling with us too. Painting helps .... there is just something about beautiful colours that is healing, don't you think ?

Do you colour birds and animals using realistic colours, or do you like to experiment and make them far more colourful ?

Re: Can someone help me

Hi @Faith-and-Hope - I can understand your concern and anxiety over your husband's wellbeing with him being in denial about his eating disorder. So he is not under any professional help? And the whole onus of his welfare is mainly on you? That's a big load my friend and I think you are wise not making it your central focus for your own health and well being. Keeping that balance is so important (as I myself have to do). Does hubby have any intention of seeking help any time in the future or is he in total denial?

I understand what you mean by his need to escape to work. How are you coping with managing everything at home on your own? Are you receiving any support there? I think it's wonderful that you help others so generously whilst struggling under such responsibility - and it must get lonely at times. Hugs 🤗

Re: Can someone help me

He is in total denial @Former-Member .... I have a thread on the Carers forum that goes into it. I don't want to spell out too much here as I know @Pepsimax is working to reduce her anxiety, so I will add that we have expstablished coping mechanisms and apart from that ongoing background concern, our adult kids and I have to take a big, deep breath and try to relax ourselves.

I have also posted information under What's New: services, research and technologies if it interests you to understand more about our struggle.

Thank you for your supportive comments. It really helps to know you care.
