Re: Can someone help me

Hi @Pepsimax ..... 💕

Here is an activity that might help you.

Can you take a pen and paper and start listing down everyone you know who is still "in life" and three nice things about them. It can help you focus on those who are living and what they mean to you.

That doesn't mean that those who have passed over don't mean s lot to you too .... of course they do ..... but while you are caught up in grief for those ones, your attention is taken away from those who you love and appreciate who are still here .....

Think in ever-widening circles of evetyone you come into contact with ... the clerk in the post office .... the clerk at the petrol station .... the receptionist at the doctors ..... this is your in-life community .....

Give yourself a little bit of time to focus on those you have lost occasionally , and it can help to put some flowers into a vase for them, or light a candle for them, but limit that time, even if you have to set a timer for yourself .... and then turn your attention to the living to keep grief from setting in and becoming a long-term problem for you, like an addiction.

I lost my mum years ago, and she was very special to me. I spent some time in tears this morning ing, missing her .... then in the same way I have suggested to you just now, I have turned my attention to the living people around me, otherwise this will remain a very sad day, and that is not right or good for healthy living

If you need some help making this transition, maybe speak with your therapist about what else you can do ......

💜💕

Re: Can someone help me

Hi @Pepsimax

Sorry to read that things are shaky today and you are feeling distressed and like you want to self harm.

The best way to deal with these thoughts and urges are to distract yourself and delay any SH actions. You can't really "make" the thoughts go away, but they will go away eventually and be less intense.

I haven't read back too far on the thread yet as I am supporting another member atm who is feeling the same way. But what I see is that your friends here are with you and providing some good strategies for distraction and self care. Follow that advice 🙂

If you really must have an intense physical response: try planking (push up exercise); cool shower; flicking a rubber band on your wrist. These will not do any damage to you.

I'll check in again shortly. Take care of yourself.
