Heart Break

Heart Break

I (28F) am just getting out of a serious 2 year turbulent relationship. It’s been a couple months and im struggling with navigating it all, its not my first break up but it just feels so much more raw, hurtful and uncomfortable in all the ways you can imagine and I just want tips on how to cope (im already seeing a therapist and im medicated) I just want real life experiences that have helped you, something that I can try to feel a little better and move forward positively

Re: Heart Break

Hey @UserNotFound , thank you so much for your post. It takes a lot to make this first step in reaching out so I really wanted to acknowledge this.

Any loss or break up can cause us to experience grief. It may be comforting to know that these feelings are absoultely normal and natural.

With grief, things I've found helpful is to stay connected with those that you feel safe with. I also push myself a little to stick to a routine when it comes to eating, sleeping and exercising. This really helps we work through it.

I'm not sure if you are working, but I've reached out to my organisation's EAP (Employee Assistance Program) in the past. I found it super helpful. It doesn't have to only be about work. It is about anything affecting you.

Do you have trusted people you can speak to?

Re: Heart Break

@tyme I have reached a really low point in this grief phase and I figured it was time to reach out to help find some support. I am working but haven’t looked into my organisations EAP at all I’m not sure how to even go about it.

I have noticed my appetite almost completely disappear but I’ve forced myself to eat even just small bits so that I can maintain my health as much as I can given how I’m feeling.

I have a few people around me that I’ve been talking through this with but I feel like a burden like I’m reaching out to them too much. Even though they reassure me they are always there for me I have this weird nagging feeling that I’m being too much, too emotional and that I should be over this already.

Re: Heart Break

If you haven't already, check out your EAP service if you have one. There's always the first. And as I said, I found my so helpful in the past. I got 4 sessions at first, then I was granted additional sessions. And they were able to do it on the same day/week. It was really good @UserNotFound

Alternatively, check out SANE's Guided Recovery Program to see if you are eligible: https://www.sane.org/referral
