Something’s not right

Flashbacks

Flashbacks

I hate how random flashbacks are. I’m just trying to go back to sleep for a little longer but no, my brain has other ideas. I keep remembering it and I don’t want to, it still hurts me. I so would’ve done things differently if it had happened to me today though. I’m glad I got the option to press charges (and I’m doing so).

But I guess the point of this post is; why can flashbacks just come out of nowhere with no trigger?

Re: Flashbacks

@starsmile oh it's horrible when they come out of nowhere. I'm glad you got the options to press charges and are doing so but it doesn't change what's happened and the impact it has on you.

Have you found anything that's worked with helping you when you are having flashbacks?

You are not alone ❤️

Re: Flashbacks

@MissGremlin I sleep it off, go for a run or just wait it out. But most of the time I go for a run.

Feeling the cold
just gets me back into the present moment

Re: Flashbacks

@starsmile some good options there, I haven't found anything that really keeps me in the present yet. I have been trying so many different things, I know it's trial and error but when I can see and feel things happening to me all over again it's really hard to know what's real and what's not in those moments.

Re: Flashbacks

Morning @MissGremlin Flashbacks are (enter swear word).
You are safe now so your brain 🧠 is using Flashbacks to process the trauma.

It is a sign that you are making progress.

Keep going sweetheart. Just keep going. You are doing great!

HUGS

Re: Flashbacks

Morning @Glisten, but that's the thing I'm still not safe. I'm constantly put in the same situations so it's a never-ending cycle.

Thankyou ❤️.

How are you going today?

Re: Flashbacks

@MissGremlin in the outside world, but you are safer here in SANE Forumland. Maybe that’s enough incentive for your brain 🧠 to do it’s thing?

Me. This is my morning hello 👋🏼/ Checking while I’m waiting for motivation in a bottle to kick in.

Then, finding the outline of my geography units that I did 20 years ago and give them to Chat GPT to write my resumes.

I want to get a job in mining or some sort of land reclamation regeneration project.

I’ve successfully put off doing this for two weeks. My medication for ADHD doesn’t work as well as what it used to.

A combination of my trauma and ever decreasing estrogen. Life - fun on a bun.

Re: Flashbacks

@Glisten but even here's not safe anymore, not knowing that I'm being watched 😞.

Hope that motivation kicks in for you soon, I'm sending some your way aswell.

I've heard about this Chat GPT but I have no idea what it's about 😂.

Oohh those jobs sound interesting and sound right up your alley 😊.

Isn't it great how we can put off doing things for so long, like c'mon i need to get this done 😂. Silly ADHD medication not doing it's job.

Life's tough that's for sure, the fun on a bun bit got me laughing 😂.

Sending you big hugs sweet ❤️

@MissGremlin Can I suggest some for you?

@starsmile sure, go for it. Maybe you can think of some things that I haven't tried yet 😊

Re: Flashbacks

@MissGremlin
Bite into a lemon, or drink lemon juice, a sour lolly maybe? Anything sour! Your brain will poop itself and snap back to reality to work out what the hell that sour taste is.

If you feel the need to hurt yourself maybe a Harm Minimisation Fidget Kit (can find for cheap online) or even acupressure rings/bracelets.

Fold some warm towels/clothes, peel dried glue from your palm, walk barefoot outside (either on the grass or pavement), blow bubbles, draw/paint on your skin (I recommend henna if you struggle with sh as it’s like a temporary tattoo), create a glitter jar.
