for those strange people who love rabbits

for those strange people who love rabbits

I love rabbits. all kinds of rabbits. they are a very misunderstood creature. they are sensitive yet stubborn. need social interaction with other bunnies and people. they are determined little souls and of course they are super cute.

This is a thread for rabbit lovers.

@tyme @Bunniekins

No I don’t have a peer support worker. I’ve tried to access it locally but in Victoria where I’m located you need a car to get to them and they don’t do online. I’m legally blind so can’t drive. So I have no access.

Yes being lonely is not a nice feeling and due to my complex disabilities it is very hard to go do the things that create friendships. What I do love is the forums because here I am amongst peers and people who are friends … like a forum family.

Bunniekins it’s so good you find me a good person and someone you think has worth. I really feel it from you that it’s what you really think. Not many people say that to me and due to being isolated I don’t get much positive stuff. So honestly thank you. I made a thread of my own which I’ll tag you both in so you can find me a bit easier too.

@Cuddlebear hey Cuddlebear yes please tag me in and keep tagging me in. being legally blind must be one of the hardest things for a person to cope with on so many levels. i can only imagine the difficulty it presents for you on a daily basis. the forums have saved my life in so many ways and the supports have been so understanding of my eccentricities due to my mental health without judgement over the years. i am glad you have found the forums.

do you have help from a NDIS package? i do hope so. also it is very important that you have a good COS worker to manage your package for you.

Hey @Cuddlebear , have you tried Roses in the Ocean? https://rosesintheocean.com.au/peer-care-companion-warmline/

They are peers you can speak to?

I'm sorry to hear how hard it is to access services.

We're here for you.

Re: for those strange people who love rabbits

@Bunniekins Yes I’m on NDIS but under funded. I have 9 hours of support work a week which is just not enough. That has to include the petrol cost for the worker too so it’s less than 9 hours. I’m self managed on my plan. This makes it better though as I can pick and choose giving me more choice and control and better value for $$$.

@Blackcloud can tell you how badly they’re cutting peoples supports.

Re: for those strange people who love rabbits

@Cuddlebear that’s so annoying that they only gave you 9 hours of support work per week when it should be more than that 😞 the NDIS is definitely a joke when it comes to giving participants the ‘correct’ supports including support work hours that they know that they deserve more than what the NDIS/NDIA gives us otherwise.

well I hope by the time I get to do the plan reassessment with the planner that they don’t compromise my new/added supports. Not to mention I’m currently seeing a support coordinator (since she’s currently acting as my support coordinator) even though the NDIA didn’t add funding for support coordination onto my plan (she knows this don’t worry).

Re: for those strange people who love rabbits

@Cuddlebear @Blackcloud hey Cuddlebear and Hi Blackcloud i have and two of my children have NDIS packages. we have packages for mental illness including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders and ptsd amongst other diagnoses. we all use a cos workers as none of us a mentally able to cope with managing our plans and luckily we have very good ones.

unfortunately my eldest child is falling through the cracks he really needs some help but he is just too okay to get any help. he has bad crohns, depression with possible ptsd. funnily enough my ex who seems to have come out unscathed from our family problems has now been diagnosed with dementia.
